So, I'm making good progress on the small double doors. Should have some pics by week's end!

In the meanwhile, here are a few images of the Giant's Gate in a couple of my Game Tiles setups. In the first photo you can see a band of adventurers escaping from a giant crocodile that's trying to force its way through the gate doors as they shut 'em. (This is a view from the "inside" of the gate.) In the second, I've used the gate as the main entrance to a fortified keep.

There are more photos of these setups elsewhere on the forum, here:

Those doors are very well sculpted. Simple for casting, yet meet their purpose fully. Great job! Wish list request- Though it would make casting a little more difficult piece wise, I would love to see a sliding security bar that you could lock the gates with. I enjoy anything that forces my dungeoneers to make a strength check to lock doors and gates behind them to block out incoming enemies.

Thanks folks!

Dead_Rabbit: As you say, a sliding security bar would make casting a little trickier, if it were to be integral to the basic piece; it wouldn't necessarily be difficult, however, to create a few small add-on pieces that could easily be attached as a mod after the fact for those who want to add this element. I assume you're thinking of this more for the Giant's Gate (where a strength check would undoubtedly be required to move a big timber bar) than for a smaller set of double doors?

Griffin Tamer,

You are correct, sir. You could provide the add-ons in a separate cast. Sell them in a bonus pack and have the customers do all of the work of painting and gluing them on, themselves. Perhaps two little, thick, plastic hooks (similar to a garment hook design) that get attached to the door, and one wood plank that rests inside the ridge of the hooks.

Dead_Rabbit,

That sounds just like what I was thinking. I'll try to find some time to put together something like that. (Talk to your friends... the more interest there is, the sooner I'll get to it!)

To which end... For those who are interested in this project, I've started a Facebook page for my new studio; I'll be updating regularly with new photos, etc. Please, check it out! Further suggestions are very welcome.

All look good. Now just waiting for you to have them ready for sale! Glad to see that I'm not the only one in need of such doors! Don't forget, however, that there is also the need for medium sized double doors, which could be even more typical than large ones.

As promised...

Here are some pics of my prototype sculpt for a set of smaller double doors. You can see how it should work nicely with DF Game Tiles. Mind you, this is just a prototype; I'll be tweaking it a bit, and also adding hinges, a pull ring, etc. to the doors themselves, which right now are just plain wood. I'm thinking I might also do two or three different designs in terms of hinges / ornamentation-- maybe a simpler one, a more ornate one, and a more 'evil looking' one. Stay tuned!

Fancy sets that could be the doors to a wealthy estate or a throne room would definitely be of use. I look forward to seeing your take on that. I regret I haven't been by your facebook yet, but I plan to do so once the second half of my homework is done with.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...
