How "Limited Edition" Will Den of Sorrows Be? 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago
i was thinking VERY hard about the Den Of Sorrows add on the only thing holding me back is this...it says the PAINTED version will be unique and only available to KS backers does that mean ONLY the painted version will be unique will i be able to get the pool and floor with gate/broken gate later on? if i can get it unpainted at a later date i might just wait as i dont have the extra money to spring for the painted set...please help as theres not much time left lol

The paint job is unique but the pieces are not new. The pool and grates are from the Classic Dungeon - Fantasy Floor Set. The pillars are the old round pillars. The door, walls and corners are from Games Tiles.

Maybe the pile of skulls is new, but it might be from the Classic Dungeon - Catacombs Set.

In theory, someone could buy the pieces and then makes themselves the Chamber of Sorrows. I think the wording is their way of saying that the ability to buy the painted set is unique, but the pieces are not unique sculpts.

Let's say 2000 backers buy it. It's already 500 more than the average limited set that DF sells. The fact that many of the backers plan to buy 2-4 copies rockets it up to the 4-8k range.

Then you factor in that they have to set some aside for the EU market.

It's got bleeding walls and looks like something from Diablo! If I were to buy, I would get two copies to make larger boss rooms!

I'm not sure the unpainted set is limited but I don't think so.

I would be very surprised if those numbers (2,000 and 4-8k) end up right. The big savings in the KS come from buying the basic set (where you get all the freebies), so that should end up being where most people spent their money. Then, if someone wants to spend on add-ons, there are like 7 add-ons, all of which are really nice. Then you figure, maybe only half the people bought painted? Finally, when you divide the total funded amount by the number of backers, it comes to about $353 per person. There are probably alot of people at, say, $500 or lower who found ways to quickly spend that $500 on other cool items and did not get the Chamber.

I would bet this add on is under 1,000 sets. The way I understand the wording, only Chamber painted as in the picture is limited. They may come out with an identical room set that is painted with the standard color scheme, once the kickstarter shipments are fulfilled. But I am thinking they will never do the KS paint job on a Chamber of Sorrows set again. That is what I think will be limited. And I really think there will be fewer than 1,000 of them. But that is just my guess.

As someone who is really kicking himself for not getting a RotA Ruined Entrance when they were available (for $29!), I am taking no chances!

Sorry for the cross-post ... I'm new to Dwarven Forge ... not new to using them. I still remember running the LG specials at GenCon which used them. This kickstarter makes the system so much more affordable ... the question now is how many add-on's.

For the Den of Sorrows, it looks like the grates will have those "bow" notches in them from the old system? But, the pool will not? I found the "Pool" set on eBay, they all had notches in them ... but the picture here does not. I"m hoping that neither will have the "bow notches" in them ... maybe they'll just be filled in like the Game Tile system.

I know it's a nit ... but if I start a collection anew, I don't like bow-notches.

Does anyone know?

timerino,

There won`t be bow-ties in any Game Tiles pieces to be produced. Stefan was in a rush toward the end of the kickstarter to generate material for stretch goals and he used old DF resin pieces to show what the upcoming Game Tiles pieces would look like (the sculpts had not be done yet).

Another Newbie question: Do they even make items with the bow-ties still or have all the sets they sell been converted to non-bow-ties?

dafrca, Every DF piece in production is bow-tie free now. There are still some old items in stock in the "Individual pieces" section that still have bow-tie connections though: Dead-end caves, set of 4, Set of two 2" walls with pits, Set of 4 floors with pits, Set of 2 short passages with pits, L-shaped passage with 4 traps swinging RIGHT, L-shaped passage with 4 traps swinging LEFT and Swinging spiked log trap. I guess them having those connections does not help DF selling them.

The Chamber of Sorrows will have NO bow tie openings...we also did not have time to show the skull piles...there will be 2 piles in the chamber....

we don't actually know yet how many Chambers of Sorrows we have sold...gotta get the surveys out....my guess is 1500 painted 500 unpainted...the talk here has me thinking, yes, it would be awesome to have more than one chamber and make a whole section of Sorrow...oh man....I will need at least 4 myself:)
