With a bit more modification, you can make your dungeon groovy!

HAHAHAHAHAH! That's awesome!

I'm seriously torn about how to paint these up. I'm probably -- almost certainly -- going to leave two alone, and that leaves me three to play around.

So here's what I've come up with so far:

1. Basic checkerboard. Probably white and black, though maybe red and black. The surrounding "outline" tile in gold.

2. Some kind of pattern -- won't be possible to get the kind of elaborate roped patterns as on the ROTA pieces, because of the grid-design, but could do concentric rectangles or something like that. Could be neat.

3. A mural of some kind -- maybe depicting a battle, or a dragon, or an aberration of some kind, or maybe just a big eye. Would probably not try to keep each tile one color, as I don't think it would look good to have an 8-bit mural -- don't want them looking like Donkey Kong pictures! Just paint whatever image I want and the inkwash over it to fill in the cracks, make it look uniform.

Those are really the only three design options I've considered, which you'd think would simplify things -- except it still leaves me wondering about which colors to use.
Also, while the last option could be really exciting, I don't think I'm actually that talented a painter. If I did something simple, like an eye, it could look cool. But I doubt I could do a dragon or something like that very well. A battle, maybe, since the figures could be so small they wouldn't need much definition. Maybe do something vaguely resembling the Bayeux tapestry.... hmm....

I am going to do the mesa map as in the old video game raiders of the lost ark on atari on one of mine and run a game based on the angle of the sun and staff the entrance to another plane changes. Just like the old D&D cartoon with the chest. :-) The second one will be blue and white greek motif. The others... I am still debating.

I am going to do something with the four elements of air, earth, fire, and water on four of them for sure. Just don't know exactly what yet.

On a second floor add on pack, I would like to do something with the 5 chromatic dragons. Will have to figure something out for that too.

I have signed up for 2 packs (10 plates)

1 for a map of some sort

1 for a city map

2 for diety pantheons (good/evil)

2 for portals (1 way each)

that's 6

I like the idea of the elements -
water pool
earth garden
air/clouds/storm
fire/lava pit

thats the 10.

maybe I need another 5 pack...

sigh. I am addicted...

Hello, my name is tom and I am truly and hopelessly addicted to DF...

too funny, i know EXACTLY how you feel

i am exercising restraint, but if Stefan promises the dungeon enterance, i have already picked my next two add on's ;)

currently i am 2 Dungeon Dressing, 1 Stair pack and one Chamber of Sorrows - if i add it would be Floors and most likely a 2nd stair pack (all painted)

i don't need five floors, but i need a couple - maybe you want to trade for a few extra of mine?

Arnold

PS - Has anyone but me thought of the idea off routing otu the middle to hold a smartphone size display?... Then the floors could be really scary...

May 20th is the last day to add items to your kickstarter account.

After May 20th you can no longer be temptedto add another 5 basic sets or 4 more add-ons, no matter how great the idea you see on the forum is that needs only a few more tiles to do at your location.

Temptation free day is May 20th!

I think I'll do a floor tile for one of the video tutorials?

That would be awesome!

I still haven't decided how I'm going to paint my extra three floors. I'm fairly sure one will be a checkerboard pattern, red and black -- but I can't decide if I want each individual tile to comprise the checkerboard, or if I want to make larger squares out of groups of tiles. And do I want a white and black one? Do I think I have it in me to do a mural?
Hmmm....
