Hi!

Here they go. A couple of photos of the mystic blocks order that I finally recieved last friday. I have to say that I definitely am glad I made that order. I like the stuff. :o

Comparing to DF, it's heavier and more fragile (ceramic) and does not have the soft material in the base, so for storage is more complicated, but not much more. It's beautiful indeed, and I would recommend it. It gives a new atmosphere that DF can not achieve for the moment. Perhaps I would not base a whole setup in this stuff, but to set a different mood is really really great.

Only one point that I don't like: the doors are painted only one side. The back is black and plain.

The photos that I had seen until now don't make justice to it. (don't know if you use this expression that way...) Over my table it looks really better (perhaps my table is magical..?) ;)

Here I post some photos that I took while taking the stuff out of the box and putting it together. Is only part of the order (I had no time for unpacking it all), but it gives a sight to it.

Hope you like it! I plan to make a bigger setup combining DF and MB. As soon as I do it I'll post more photos.

Glad you like it! I agree with you, I don't think a whole set with this would look as good. Just a room or two, or some walls, in a DF dungeon.

I have a suggestion -- put that big floor piece with the hole on top of some pillars, and behind some DF walls. You get a GREAT well. I posted pics of that once before, I'll see if I can find them to post them again.

Hey! that's a great idea! :D

My girlfriend had an idea while making this setup. I have to say that people of mystic blocks is very nice and they throw into the order free 2 extra pieces that I had not order. (They always give a number of extra pieces for great orders) One of them was a short passage (with musk and all those nice plants) This passage has 2 inches long, and has walls both sides. If you put the pit on the passage, you only have to put DF walls on 2 sides of the passage, and the look through the pit is greeeeat!!!

I have to thank Daggerdale because I decided to order mystic blocks when I saw some pics that he posted long long ago, combined with DF, and so I then could see the great fit that exists between both systems. (Yeah those pics with a carrion crawler and those nice giant fungus that I think he made himself).

I think I have seen the pics you say L, are those with a stair that goes down the pit?

If not, I would be happy to see the pics you say!!! :)

Yeah, those are the pics! The stair piece is great, and I had them for ages before I realized how well they would work together.

I have the stair piece, the well, the little "fresco" with mushrooms, and some various floor pieces with mushrooms and vines. Oh, and I have a couple of the doorways -- I agree, it would be nice if they were detailed on both sides. As it is, they're a lot less useful.

I love putting lizardmen in dungeons with these pieces, they're great "fallen jungle temple" elements.

I think I'm wrong... I've reviewed the pics of the pit we were talking about... they are from MrMorden... and the pit are made of 4 pit tiles in a pile... with a lot of ghast in the same pic...

Your pic may be other? please! post it! :o

Fallen jungle... yummmy... bwahahaha... I like it... yeah for lizard men it would be right, but I think I'm going to use it with the shyft lizard men from MK... do you know who they are? are psionic lizard that can command hordes of spawns... Man I can't wait!!

Great pics!

Glad I could help spread the craze! Just for the record. I don't work with/for/against the Mystic Blocks people. I just found they complemented Master Maze very well. I love seeing all of the setups on these boards and the thirdpary addons that people come up with.

I just got some more pieces and now that I finished up year 15, I am taking an RPG break for the summer so I can start playing with new setups.

Could we see that well pic again L?

I couldn't find the old pics, and since my move I can't find all my MB pieces. However, I did cobble together a sort of display that shows the pit off -- you can imagine from these pics what kinds of things could be done with more time and effort. This piece works VERY well as an elevated floor, since that pit is so suggestive.

And I'm tossing in a pic of what my SF display has been reduced to -- I only have room on a bookshelf for it right now. :(

Thank you very much for the pics L! :)

So you've make this setup only for taking the pics of the pit? I can't figure out how the past pictures were, but this ones are nice!

Yeah, that's a sort of turbolift.

The two big consoles are from an old Kenner toy from 1982 -- the Micro Collection Hoth Ion Cannon. It came with those, which are a little too small for the SWM (note the size of the stairs) but are full of goofy stickers with SF gibberish on them, and they make great backdrops to easily suggest some kind of command HQ. (they also provide fantastic cover, they're so big)

Unfortunately, this set isn't cheap today. I think you can grab a used one on ebay for probably $30-50 or so, but a new one will be more.
