The Phlan module is a great one for an opening campaign setting. I have used it three of four times over the years.

The foam I use is for Army Transport figure cases. I like it because it has a thin layer of denser material on one side. I flip them upside down and the foam stays nicely on the felt tablecloth (DF pieces do as well that are backed in felt) and the denser layer provides a more stable base for DF tiles. This foam is not cheap but I have been using it for a long time and I really like it a lot.

The Ruins of Adventure module is loosley based on the pool of radiance gold box computer game. The product is inspiring for a great campaign, but the book as written is pretty simplistic. I recommend it for starting material and then go online and research other campaigns using Phlan. There are also other products out there that cover the moonsea reagion of the forgotten realms. That extra material will be very helpful. Just be prepared to extrapolate a game from the rough material. One of my all time favorite campaigns was off of that book and ran 3 years. Good times! Im thinking of running it again now...

Playing D&D since 1982 and DMing since 1986. I still rember that first red box! I've been a Dwarven Forge collector since 1998.

My campaign is set in The North and is using The North boxed set from TSR I'm going to make my PC's journey to the area (there's a few sessions right there) then once the module is over connect it back towards the North cause I really enjoy that area of the Forgotten Realms!

Very cool setup! The levels really add to the visual appeal and you have a nice display of well placed accessories. I love the composition of the last photo. Thanks for sharing.

A very nice rendition of that module. I have actually been thinking about using it to start my next campaign. I really like that it opens opportunities for players to immerse their characters in the local power structure and culture "from the ground up" so to speak.

They can work in trade, diplomacy, warfare, piracy, and many other fun scenarios for the campaign from that starting point very organically.

While I can echo many sentiments already expressed, one thing that caught my eye was your use of the floor bits for completing the corner pieces inside a setup. They give nice interest to the floor design at the top of the stairs further in. Thanks for sharing!

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...
