Steampunk or trekkies ??

Hello,

Here is one little experience : same setup, other decors. The first is a steampunk (Space 1889) and the second one is inspired by Star Trek.

Really amazing and fun setup/s.

I am convinced that the 'Steam Punk' ship has a special level called a 'Hollow Deck'... It is full of green vapours, stay in there too long and they will take hold of you... Sometime later you mysteriously awaken in strange alternative reality where there is no humidity and a lot of 'Bloop & Bleep' sounds rather than the more familiar 'Hissing & gurgling' sounds. You look around and find this to be a sterile world.

I have not figured out yet how to exit the "Hollow Deck" and can only hope that a fellow crew man comes to rescue me wearing his space suit tethered to a long length of rope... I am not sure I can adjust to this 'Star Trek' lifestyle of rehydrated foods, bright lights and synthesised alcohol.

What an awesome way to celebrate your 100th post! - Welcome to Orcdom ;)

Really great stuff - i rarely play any steampunk or sci fi games, these setups make me think i should - if for no other reason than to have an excuse to buy the sci fi sets ;)

Congrats on the beautiful layouts - as much as i like Trek, i think i like the steampunk version even better - awesome work no matter how you dress it!

Well done Rodenbach!! I find myself really enjoying the steampunk setup. The juxtaposition of the sci fi and traditional decor really works well. I may have to get some sci fi sets after all.

I'm normally a much bigger fan of fantasy than sci fi, but that's a great steampunk setup! So many details, I looked at each picture several times. You did a great job of selecting traditional fantasy accessories that look just right in a steampunk setup.

I have a hard time getting into most of the more popular sci-fi settings for gaming myself. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Star Wars and Star Trek, I just haven't much enjoyed gaming in those settings. Firefly might be a fun setting to game with...

That said though, both setups are indeed excellent! I do like the steampunk more though, I'm especially partial to that genre.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

LordDust - I have actually GM'd Firefly and it is a lot of fun - Cortex System is well thought out and the game plays well - I like the books too - lots of good Firefly stuff in there (including a how to swear in chinese section) - I think Margaret Weiss and Co. did a great job with that product - Definitely worth checking out
