Hello guys,

Here is some news about this project. I began to make some prototypes of gold cascades and here are the first pictures of it.

The first picture is the making of the prototype master piece. Which is in fact the negative. Then I pour some resin in it.

Some pieces that fits nicely the DF pieces

The prototype of a gold cascade. Do you enjoy it?

That's what walls collapsing mid battle to release a lava-flow are for!

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

That is absolutely gorgeous!

And it's not about letting your party have the gold, it's about using the gold to make the party do something colossally stupid trying to get the gold...

That is incredible!!! I would have loved to have enough of your seas of gold to cover 3 tiers and a 4 foot by 2 foot DF setup last year when my party found the city of el dorado. . Oh I am sorry the cursed city of el dorado. now the party forever haunts the piles of treasure until such time as a more powerful party comes and destroys them....

The great thing about giving the players a million gold pieces is what do they actually DO with it?
You have to start buying mules to carry the water and food for the other mules and so on......

It also becomes a problem because they start to attract attention from the big boys.....

The Dwarves "defending" the treasure against the coming of the various armies in the battle of the 5 armies at the end of The Hobbit.

I'll always remember reading Frank Herbert's Epic Sci-Fi series Dune. In it are some vicious Tuareg Ninja type people called the Fremen who live on a planet where moisture is so precious people kill you so they can harvest your water. When the concept of lakes and fresh water bodies are explained to them they snort with derision and comment that a waterskin full of 5 liters of water is worth far more than that because you can carry it and keep it, rather than be killed over trying to defend it!

The aftermath of finding the treasure becomes an adventure in itself, rather than an unbalancing event.

And if your DM is especially cruel, he demonstrates the economic consequences of flooding a region with large amounts of cash by adding a couple-few zeroes to prices of goods.

I also like the idea of destroying the giga treasure. There are a lot of way of doing it : earthquakes, lava, spells, radiations, acide, a flow of mercury, sunk in the bottom of the ocean, teleported to another plane, stolen by a god or a devil, etc.

Moreover I like the idea of the old prophecy saying that the adventurers will be the richests men on the world but they will loose everything...
They probably don't imagine that they will only be rich during a few minutes...

A DM might also create some kind of huge expense that the characters need such a treasure to pay.

The party might need to raise a vast army. The mercenaries know it, and they are demanding 100 gold per man.

The party needs literally tons of golds to buy ancient arcane artifacts from the lords and gentry who own them.

And so on.
