Hey, look! A nickel! (Wait, I might have to give it to Jim. Darn.) :)
YC:

I'd rather you spend it on DF; every little bit that keeps them in business helps ALL of us! Of course, it'll take a LOT more than a nickel to keep 'em going, but every little bit helps, right?

Or, as my Dad would say, "Hey! Nickel 'n' dime 'em to LIFE!"

See ya!

Jim

Woo Hoo! I got a nickel! I can buy me some....

Oh, crud.

I hope that nickel has a large extended family. :)

Fanatastic again! At this very moment I am struggling with the Grendel door integration issue so its cool to see how you have dealt with it. I really like those lava pools and they are one of the few accessories I can't place the manafacturer of. I also really like those floor hatches - look like Grendel?

So may of the things you have done are long time works of progress for me and this inspires me to completion (one day!)

Cheers

Confirm with Philip that both the altar piece and the pews are Armorcast product.
I do not remember there being a game store in your neck of the woods in Washington DMMJ.
Is there one in Moses Lake?
I do not remember a decent one down in the Tri-Cities either.

Check with Merlyns in Spokane (if they are still in business) to see if they have any Armorcast left in the their stock; lots of stores did very large orders before Armorcast shut down Terraforms.
Sometimes, back in the day, I was able to get gaming stuff really cheap at the either of the "White Elephant"s in Spokane as well.
There is supposed to be a gaming store in Spokane called Gorilla Bob's as well.
Sorry, my time in Spokane is in and out at Fairchild; I do not get past Airway Heights or Cheney while I am there.
(Yes folks, there really is a town in Washington named Cheney)
Best of luck DMMJ!

IO--who makes the spores? Those look really cool. They'd make a great addition to the kids' fantasy forest I'm working on.

RF--you mentioned that the pews were Armorcast--do you know if those are still in production with their sci-fi stuff or were those part of the now OOP fantasy line?

Thanks both in advance for the responses...

OOP.
They were part of the Terraforms line that could be used in Fantasy or Sci-Fi.
Look at your LGS to see if they were one of the stores that did large orders before the line was killed.
Good luck!

Thanks for the words gang…

I had a lot of fun painting these pieces, but I was also tested at the same time. Color-matching to MM is challenging to say the least. On each accessory the colors look and lay differently depending on the piece’s surface. And correctly custom color mixing acrylics, that don’t dry true, was aggravating! There were more than several color corrections in the painting possess at first, because I thought like in color matching to the Sci-Fi pieces, I could do the DF-color match-part of the paint job in one go. It was the wrong move… :/ the MM color scheme is much more complex, and again plays out completely different on surfaces unlike the porous stonework of DF. The mixed colors kept drying out, and there are the shades of green and yellow hidden in the grays and browns that can drive a painter crazy trying to match.

So when I finally got the colors correct. I painted big squares on white sheets of paper, so I could take the samples to Home Depot, have them computer match the colors, and whip me up a few quarts of paint. If you decide to try this use the highest quality interior-flat latex paint your store has, and thin with a little water accordingly.

After correctly color-matching the DF part of your paintjob, sealing the color is what really ties it in. DF pieces are hard “plasticy” looking. I found that Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating #1303 “gloss coating” matches to the “plasticy” finish.

Let those parts dry, and then you can have some fun painting all the other parts of your accessories. You can even hit it with a light coat of Matte for protection on those parts too, just go light and even across the whole piece; the gloss will still show through the color matched parts and contrast with the flat painted areas.

Yes, the pews and lava pits are Armorcast. I’m so upset their not making any of these pieces anymore. I just found out too. There was so much more I would have liked to have been able to buy one day.

FANTASTIC
Is it possible IO, to take photos of your gaming room. Not the central table but photo of shelves where you put all your fantastic small decorations
just to see how important is your collection.
I wonder where you can find the time to get and paint so many things like this.
Congratulations
you give all us the will to make like you
