New resin sets 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I'm more & more affraid that DF will give up the classic sets made in resin for the new ones taken from this this KS in few time.
Indeed in less than a month the kickstarter offer replaced at 80% all the classic dungeon line ... so here's the question of a huge collector :

Do you have any date to announce the following promised resin sets :
-> ice cavern II
-> catacomb sets II
?

I need to save some money before so I cross the fingers to get something released this year.

Hi,

I really hope a sewer system comes before those 2. Any dates on that front Jeff? Stef?

Thanks.

I'd love to see the following sets next and would buy a LOT of these...

ice caverns 2 set
icy chasm set
hellscape lava rivers/lava falls set
hellscape chasm set
cavern water falls set
sewer set

I was imagining that a water fall or lava fall could have variable width if one piece had the "falls" the full length and other pieces were half falls or edged with falls.

I think a more positive outlook is appropriate for the grand success of the Game Tiles KS. This has brought a lot more people into the fold and (I hope?) a lot more capital into Dwarven Forge. Both of these changes should result in more - not less - of what we have all come to love and expect from Stefan & Jeff (and now Casey!): incredible 3d pre-painted gaming terrain! Look how much they did without this KS HQF! Now, allow your mind to dream how much more they will do with this incredibly successful KS under their belt!

The Catacomb II should be here in Europe before Christmas* (*Christmas hopefully to be earlier as last year).

Of the other suggestions:
I'm not sure if there will be an Ice II. I can't see it flying off the shelf - even in the US they still have stock. But hey - I don't know ahead of time what Stefan is doing.
The Hellscape River etc. also start to become too specialist in my view. We would first need to transfer some of the new KS customers into Resin customers. A Hellscape River only makes sense if you already own some of the other Hellscape sets.
Don't get me wrong - I see new customers slowly moving on from basic sets to additional sets to caverns, to limited. But it's a slow process (unless you have lots to spend). A new influx of customers would help here - but if I would be a dwarvenite customer then I would go for classic cavern or MBS or catacomb first - and only after these for Ice and Lava.

What I really like to see is the sewer set. That should have a lot more appeal to be useful just with some normal sets / dwarvenite sets.

Btw - anyone heard anything about the wooden / stable set showcased together with the Hellgate at GenCon 2 years ago? I'm sure there are pictures still somewhere but I never heard about that.

And no - I don't know if Stefan has any surprises in stock. All the information above has been written about here at some stage / or is speculation. Anyhow - even if I would know - I don't dare to offend Zaltar.

Well I'm a KSer who's already taken a huge plunge into the existing lines. (16 sets: 5 HS, 5 DoE, 2 Ruins, 2 Woodlands, 1 RotA, 1 R&P) So at least some people are already expansing from Game Tiles to resin.

At this point everything I want is out of stock, but I'm ready to order more. (Specifically most of the cavern/lake/river line, along with DoE Rooms and more RotA...)

As much as I would LOVE more HS or DoE sets, I have to think its going to be tough to expand those lines as the fundamental sets for them are getting close to selling out, completely. It would just lead to a lot of ill-will, I think, among new collectors. I think non-LE might be the way to go for the next set or two, while they get a chance to measure the Game Tiles conversion rate.

I love the hints about Catacombs II/III. The oft-mentioned Sewer set sounds interesting, though I'd be more interested in either the creature den/earth warrens or mine-shaft style that link so nicely with the basic line and caverns.

Also, and I acknowledge this is probably too niche, but I love elemental themes. I feel I can do a reasonable job of fire, water, and earth with the existing sets. I'd love to see an air themed set. But Fire/Earth/Water all ended up being more generally useful (HS/Cavern/Lake&Rivers) and air is bit harder for me to envision. (Probably not for Stefan though! :) )

Thod, this links to the thread with a picture of Wood House pieces (which were not the pieces that would go into the final set) by PSOM. I never saw anything else about it (nothing new, anyway) on the forums, so I have no idea what the status of that project is.

-----

A HellScape River also makes sense if the sets can be used to create complete chambers by themselves, as well as in conjunction with previous sets. If the pieces are sculpted so that the banks can be used to define streams and rivers and lakes, then the number of pieces and sets might be kept to a minimum.

Wow Nielsene, thats quite a plunge!!! You are going to LVOE the WA & AB sets when they come back in stock, and, of course, all the cavern stuff (which is my favorite line)!

I'm less sure about those sets, actually. I actually see a fair bit of the WA sets in GT already with the add-ons. Yes there are some awesome pieces that probably will never make the translation. But I want to see how they evolve the GT line before buying those. I'd hope they end up some some creative new assortments of those pieces (remove the GT-friendly pieces and combine the resin-required pieces from a few WA into a single set). Advanced Builder has the same issues -- while very little has shown up in GT, there's no reason why it couldn't -- there no "show" pieces that require resin.

I only bought one set of regular just to help camouflage the ruin pieces (and to play with them earlier before GT arrive). (And honestly, since I'm also getting a prototype set of GT I'm looking forward to the comparison in person in the near future. Perhaps (likely) that will change my view of the utility of the other classic dungeon sets)

I hope there's always a place for the awesome resin pieces, but I think most of the core classic dungeon sets won't be it. Now if they extend the catacomb line from just catacombs into a fully gothic line, I can see that being the upgraded resin counterpart to the classic dungeon with more detail.

Jack, it are the pieces of the final set released by Morgar/Psominiature years ago. I bought him so you can check it here :

You can also have a look here :
at 1mn'41

As far as I know, DF asked Morgar to rework his set for a production project but today Morgar does something else.

My favourite creation of this guy is his mine set. Totally awesome with the rail road ...

I would love to see a Hellscape lava lakes lakes set. I don't think you'd need to have the prior Hellscape sets to want that. Who hasn't needed a lava lake or lava river in a dungeon as a DM? Heck you even need it to run Hall of the Fire Giant King, one of the classic D&D adventures that has thrilled DMs and players from first edition to the present.
