I would like to see a super "dungeon room dressings" set that contained a lot of small items. The set might contain 4 (or more) themes e.g. library, torture chamber, throne room, barracks. The set could be generic enough to fit into both DoE and the "normal" fantasy range. This would enable gamesmasters to theme rooms or areas of dungeon, as well as providing more versatility with the present range of DF accessories. I know that, at the moment, the gap in this part of the market is being filled by a range of producers who make unpainted and (sometimes) dubious quality pieces when compared to DF.

What do you guys think?

There's certainly been a LOT of interest in that sort of thing! There have been hints that some kind of themed-set is on the way, possibly a torture chamber or a library could happen at one point. I like the idea of accessories, as well, though, since that fits in with the modular approach of DF generally - you aren't tied down to a particular setup.

Of course, ideally, I'd want both -- moveable accessories to create any kind of library etc. in any room, but also one or two "fixed" rooms that include architectural details not present on the regular pieces -- themed-details that go a little farther in establishing a particular environment.

But we'll see -- the word right now seems to be that the Cavernous River/Lake sets are going to set the pace for DF. If they do well, we can probably expect a LOT of frenzied activity in late 06, and throughout 07. If they bomb, then DF is pretty much dead in the, er, water.

*ahem*

Of course, they will do well. Some of us here are willing to keep DF afloat all on our own through Cavernous River purchases....

I know I'll be adding the Cavernous Rivers / Lakes to my collection. A nice drop in the bucket ;-) Hopefully, I will have a nice flood of disposable income so I can splash some of the new pieces into my layouts. Really would flow nicely !! Seriously though, I'm beginning to drown in nice resin dungeon scenery !!

Puns?? What puns ??

Yeah, my cash flow has stablized for the time being as well, so Cavernous rivers will be bought, i wouldn't mind another DOE, but for me if it's a choice between DOE and Beta, i'll go with Beta to get some really long honkin Walls and passages...

I know soon i want my PC's to strom a Capital Ship and well i want Hallwaysto race down :) :D

I dunno about you guys, but I'M ready to dive into the latest sets coming from DF!

Of course, if the IRS doesn't come through, I won't be able to keep my head above water, anyway. My finances WILL go down the drain.

Okay, okay, I'll quit now!!

Stop BEATING on me, I said I'd stop!

See ya!

Silly IRS.

As far as the DOE stuff- great set!

I've used mine for a few encounters and, as though you guys knew it and made them all magical or something, all encounters I've run in my DOE set-ups have been very climatic and full of action. I almost had my first TPK with a party of 5 vs. a zombie white dragon guarding a closed planar portal. The warlock saved the day.

My players say that everytime I whoop out those DOE pieces - a big boss fight is on the horizon.

Carnivore;

Just remember; when the DM 'juggles' his dice to let the party survive, it is NOT cheating. As the God of the Dungeon, you are SUPPOSED to have enough wiggle room that you can save the day.
After all, if the Party dies, so does the party - if you know what I mean.
Everyone feels better when, in a fantasy battle, only the "bad guys" are dead forever. As DM, YOU have the power to resurrect ANYONE whom you decide hasn't suffered enough yet!

So let 'em live - unless they've become a total PITA, in which case, let 'em die!

See ya!

Here's my two cents.

I agree with almost everything said above. DoE is awesome. Need more room pieces without passage pieces in the next DoE-themed set, whatever that is. Other wicked additions type items could be included or provided in a separate set, I don't mind either way. I definitely want the additional wicked-additions type items (dias, thrown, altar, statue, idol, stairs, etc) and I wouldn't mind having them combined in a double pack simply because I don't mind collecting my room pieces gradually - one group from the room and passages set, another from the first double pack with wicked additions, another with the second variant, etc. But I'm happy to have them separate as well. I tend to see DoE as an evil temple so I kind of like the evil religion themed items for the wicked additions set BTW.

As for the Limited Edition or not debate, I support the idea of LE. There's no reason to worry about newcomers not being able to get the set. First of all, they WILL be able to get every LE set ever made on eBay. Not used it yet? Check it out! It's great.

Second of all, LE means more new sets coming out every year rather than repeats of the same old sets over and over. Personally, I'd rather have the new sets to add to my collection, thank you very much. If I need an old set, I get it on eBay. It's fun and easy.

One way I justify spending ridiculous amounts of money on this stuff is that the resale value holds up pretty well for used DF sets on eBay. I think the limited edition concept supports that. I'm pretty confident I can turn around and sell most of my stuff for close to what I bought it for, losing maybe on shipping. That's a much smaller price to pay than the full price if I ever decide I can't keep all of it around (not that that's very likely to happen). Mainly it's just a way of tricking myself into spending more on DF. :) But I think that works for other people too and it only helps DF make more money and produce more cool sets for us.

As i was planing the last set up i used DOE in and the next i know what I want in the Expansion... the same thing i wanted in the Sci-Fi expansion and exsists in the Fantasy lines....

A larger floor section say the 4x4 or a 4x6, and drum roll please... the 6inch long wall to go with the 4x6 floor.

Made a big room with the DoE took just about all of the floors and walls to do it with the 2 base sets i had... we need the big floors and the long walls. to make some larger rooms... I mean with out the how can i make my temple to evil ;)

Count me in!!! I would like a nice box with... about six long walls, and a couple of especial decorated 4x6 Floors, as well as four-six 4x4 normal evil floors... and then the "extras"...
