Would it be worth exploring whether or not you could sell enough of these in a "pre-order" pledge manner (I guess 1500 sets is your minimum run, based on previous comments Stefan?) to see if a limited edition run would be worth your while.

I appreciate, cost wise, it would be like buying 3 or 4 sets all in one go, to buy an entire stadium the size that looks like? Or you could do a basic set with 4 corners and 4 walls?

You could sell extra straight walls for those who want to make it bigger?

Just an idea, it would be a pity for it spend it's creative life in your basement!

Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to produce this on any sort of factory production run....The problem with producing this is the size of the pieces and warpage factor....I have the Molds...but even after casting, additional work needs to be done in terms of repairing adding mass to edges
and adding pillars, details to the outside etc...I remember there were many difficulties...maybe one day I'll go ahead and try to cast 3-4 copies myself...but it would be VERY expensive, considering the time and trouble and the hand painting involved...I would have to make one first and see how hard it is to do by myself(I had a team of folks helping me the first time)...then I could estimate how much to charge...but I would guess it would have to be somewhere of $3000+ as it would consume my time for about a month....

It is simply Awesome though...I have the designs for the lower levels (where the Lions are kept)and maybe one day when I retire I shall sculpt them as well...

On the bright side, I also have plans drawn up for something similar in a much smaller scale which could "possibly" be put into production and would be way more affordable...it would be compatible with the realm of the ancients sets....

That would look great in the realm of the ancients theme. That
line definately needs one more set and an arena would be perfect.

I've seen the YouTube video of that marvel of the DF world... That piece has held certain magnetism over me for quite some time... I would love to see more of it, and learn more about its creation if possible.

Sadly, I will not be able to see it in person: my schedule prohibits an attendance at GenCon this year.

This is an amazing piece of work and it is a shame it probably won't make it out into the world, i would definetly be in the dog house if i spent $3000+ on a piece of scenery no matter how amazing it is.

Fair enough, you're never going to sell more than a couple at that price.

A smaller, "stackable version" with filler pieces and seat pieces to go on the top layer(s) and wall straights and corners and sands of death floor pieces, columns etc might be good. This would enable to enable small (affordable and mouldable) pit fights or for collectors to be able to double up or triple up on height and make it larger would be very good though!

Awesome scuplt!

Ever since I saw the youtube video of this arena, I've thought it was a beauty.

Perhaps with a two year warning that a few limited editions of this arena were being produced to sell I might be able to scrape together enough cash for one. I'd hate to think about it taking up a month of your time though since you could be producing other terrain for us ;).

A lot of detailed pics would be nice though for us crazy enough to attempt producing one of our own though!
