I am impressed that I only recognize about half the fiddly bits you used to make the bases, nice job sourcing those! I am eagerly looking forward to more of your work.
Are you impressed enough to part with a few bucks? ;-)

I'm interested in buying some. I also saw your post on your work building some tapestries. Do you have any of those available for sale yet? Do you have any other crafts that you have for sale?

I'm not quite ready with the tapestries yet. I'm waiting on some higher quality materials and ironing out a couple details with regards to attaching the tapestries to the walls. I want to have a complete system that I can sell so I'm just just saying, "Here's your tapestry. You'll have to figure out your own way to attach or hang it from the wall." This part is esp. important since many real life tapestries, such as the one shown in my posts, are rather large and the 1/2 height walls won't allow you to hang a tapestry.

As for other crafts... indeed, I'm working on a few other things such as ornate mirrors and paintings. I want to provide a whole section of items that can be hung from the walls which you can't really get anywhere else.

One of the details I want to add to the mirrors is the fact that back in the day they used polished metal for mirrors. It's easy to just get a glass mirror in a square, circle or oval shape and find a frame that it will fit into... but I want to make it more authentic... and I also want to make it mottled with rusted spots. I remember this one shot from the Game of Thrones TV show that epitomized the production quality, for me. I believe it was after the big battle at the capital of Westeros and the Imp was in a bed chamber. He woke up and a pan of the room reveals this mirror on a wall that wasn't all perfect; it had that old glass look with the mottling around the edged of the mirror when the silver begins to oxidize.

Anyway, the artwork for the picture frames will be printed on a material as well, to give it that painted on canvas look. I would love to do more of a painterly feel to the printing, so we'll see what I can come up with. It might not be cost effective, though. I do have a fine arts background so I might try painting a couple of one-offs down the road and see how that works out.

Eventually, I want to get into more LED stuff since that is always cool. I've been fooling around with building torches, but I haven't found the right method yet for the flames that I like and is also fast. I would also like to get some glowing crystal balls, as well. I have some ideas there and am beginning the plans and material lists for that.

As for the crystal balls, there's no limited supply of them (although there are a few from the 15 designs that are limited due to limited bases) so if you want to wait for my other items then that's probably a good idea.

I had actually already made a few crystal balls of my own before this thread started, so I am good on those. Depending upon the price though, it is likely I will be after a few of your tapestries. I might even have interest in commissioning a couple custom tapestries if you are willing once you are comfortable with your process. I am fairly handy and a quick study, but I will not have time for crafting all the projects I have envisioned.

It has been almost eerie sometimes how closely some of your projects mirror ideas I have had, but it is a very welcome thing too.

The mirrors though are definitely beyond what I was considering doing. If they turn out for you I would also be interested to see what you think is a fair price for those as well.

A thought for LEDs... when I was considering the problem of how to power a small LED in a very tiny piece I started wondering if the magnetic induction chargers could be used to power small pieces over them? This could in theory remove the need for many of the bulky parts. I do not have enough knowledge yet to determine the feasibility, but I thought I might look into it at a later date. Just some food for thought.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

Just to give everyone a heads up who has shown interest in the crystal balls and tarot cards... I had some issues with getting the tarot cards printed at a reasonable price and high resolution that satisfied me. The issue was more to do with the very large file size I used to get the resolution to print at such a small size.

Anyways, I will be adding two more styles to the crystal balls and eventually ordering smaller glass balls, 5-6mm and 8mm... as well as, hopefully, some special ones with a rainbow surface coating (it makes them look like bubbles), and possibly some glow-in-the-dark glass balls.

Sourcing glass balls below 10mm in North America at a reasonable cost and amount mostly means trying to find a lab equipment dealer.

So, here's my version of the slowly fading RGB LED effect in a cracked glass bead. Enjoy!

I like the look with the cracked glass. I'm about to start a similar project with a crystal ball, and was thinking if adding silver sparkles inside the ball for the light to reflect off of. Now I might have to get one like yours instead. I need one thats a lot smaller though.

Thanks and good job on them! They look great!

Thanks, Richens!

They're called Crackle Beads. They come in 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 mm sizes so getting the smaller size you want shouldn't be a problem. Here's a link:
