Re:Vertical Terrain Construction Elements KS 5 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi dndgamer,

The pictures show elements painted in a quick and easy schema, which I describe in the Infinite Crypt Kickstarter FAQ. We have investigated texturing and custom painting the elements (which works beautifully - our friend @RichardatHome has painted about a dozen IC elements in this way) but we didn't think it was reasonable to ask him to put in dozens of hours of painting for a spectulative, startup Kickstarter.

We think that the low key paint schema we've used looks pretty cool - but if you want to maximise compatibility with Dwarven Forge Game Tiles, I suggest texturing the elements. (I talk about this in our FAQ as well!) Richard has a great technique for doing this - I'm hoping we can do a YouTube "HowTo" about it early next year.

All the best! James

'Elements' don't come pre-assembled or painted because they're 'flat-packed' in sprues, apparently to keep posting down, and due to MDF swelling it's been said that painting before assembly would be bad for putting them together. The pictures show a simple paint-scheme, there are more complex paint schemes that have been linked on Twitter (from painters that have recieved protoypes to mess around with).

The fact they're made from MDF wasn't mentioned on the Kickstarter page (and had to be put in a comment), but was in the video, and on the original infinitecrypt.com blog (and the Reddit thread).

The way the terminology appears to work is a set of 10 Elements comes on 10 sprues (with 2 columns or 2 crates combined on a single sprue thus counting as 1 Element), and they get called 'Elements' once assembled and painted?

I was wondering if anyone had some exact measurements (in inches) as to the size of the elements - specifically, the doors, pillars, and archways. I'm interested in how these architectural elements would interact with DF for building more levels and more complicated layouts. If it goes with the 1"x1"x2" pillars and 1"x2"x2" archways, that could be very compatible. Well, I guess it would have to be a little less than 2" in height to sit on a floor piece and be the same level as a DF wall...

I've used some textured spray paint on poster board before, and I was thinking of using it on these. I'm thinking that it could come out very nicely.

The components are made on a 1" system it looks like the walls and standard arches are 2" by 2" by 1"
