Well, this weekend I laid out a huge cavern using 3 cavern sets, 2 lake sets and 2 CR&W sets plus plenty of extra bits and all beautifully adorned with Jesse's excellent mushrooms!

However, putting all the pieces back in the boxes has me vexed. The projections on some of the water pieces, the upside down insertion in the boxes, some spaces getting 2 tiles, some 1...arrgghhh! Since I used all of my water stes i have no other box to peek into to see how its all suppose to go back.

Can anyone lend me a hand?

harneloot,

Start with the 2 long pieces by putting them in first on teh corner of the box upside down. Then work your way in from outside to inside with pieces that have tall outcroppings. You can put the extra piece in the box on one of hte upside down pieces on the second and third rows. I hope this helps. Maybe not. I would take a picture but my stuff is still being unpacked.

I had the same problem a while back. I got the stuff put away finally, more or less. Though I had some extra pieces I couldn't fit, so I'm sure I did not put stuff exactlly the way it was originally. I think it would be really useful if DF would put up on this site the instructions or a photo of how the cavernous water pieces are supposed to be stored.

If you want to be super-organized, take a permanent marker and write a number on the packing in the box by the slot, and the same number on the bottom of the tile that goes in that slot.

jack--that's a great idea that I wound up doing awhile back. It is a PITA putting those pieces back in the box after having them set out on the table for a long time! ;-}~

Y'know, Robert, that's not as much of a joke as some people might think. jackattack's suggestion is probably the best DIY idea, but anything that helps would, ya know?
The spires on the Cavernous Water and Lake pieces are delicate; they are especially in need of repack directions.

See ya!

It's tough, definitely. I got an additional Lake set long after I ordered my first one, and I immediately wrote up a packing guide when I opened it. That's safely stowed. But the river set, I have nothing. And that one's harder.

With all of them, it's the little stalagmites that make it tricky. Most of my sets I've transferred to bins, to save space. The stuff is so durable, I couldn't justify spending a whole closet on storage when it would fit in 1/2 the space if I took out the styrofoam. But with the water sets, that's not an option.

It looks like the Expansion set will be easier -- mostly open water with a few land elements, it should be flat and easy to store. I suppose the landing might be tough, with those skull adornments. But I don't anticipate trouble with that one when the time comes.

What about a map in the tile system showing how to store the sets.

I've started doing this for my storage solutions as some of them only fit in certain orientations.

I can't understand why you guys are putting your DF back in the styrofoam boxes. DF is made to play with :). My apartment looks like an *effi'n* RPG shop! I have DF, minis, and dice all over the place. Sometimes I even step on D4's that I drop on the floor *ouch*... Don't keep your DF in a museum...have fun with it. :)
