I answered this in a private message, but I'll answer it here, too. It's a 3 volt button cell battery (CR2032) that's used in all the LED pieces. You can light most LEDs from that, from a 1.8mm to a 10mm LED, and even tiny surface mount LEDs.
Do you also have the model/specs for the connectors used in KS4/5? I'm interested in doing some modding and making compatible pieces.

Also if you have a Canadian source, even better.
The JST connectors are larger than the 1.25 and the 2mm ones I have so I'm guessing that they are 3mm JST connectors?... not sure yet since this design was chosen at the point of manufacturing by the factory and I wasn't involved in that. I'll have to look up the JST spec sheets to match up the dimensions and then I can get an answer.

Any resistors needed? (always used them in my labs, but that was with 5V)
If it's a question looking for an official answer then 'yes', always use a resistor.

Question collected. Josh is the LED wizard, so he might actually be your best bet for this answer...
