Some interesting roads, specially liking the rutted roads, similar to what we want to see from DF at some point.

Shame the cobbles can only be one lane wide, but perhaps that is us spoilt with DF streets :)

Yeah, we would prefer the road bit wider... although my wife is less fussed about that than I am. It is not a deal breaker though and I really like all the options for various different intersections, including dirt track to road.

Yes we saw those transitions too, although we do not think they are absolutely essential.

Liked the Y junction option, you do not see many of those.

As for the mats, my wife and I like the MFC grass side but not the desert side... not for desert anyway. My wife thinks the desert side might work for negative space dirt roads.

And she wants to use a magnetic whiteboard under the mat to creat a 6x4 terrain tray.... so a double sided neoprene mat may be too slippery.

So a Deep Cut plains and a Deep Cut savanna mat are back in the lead.

But we still welcome input... we will not be making a decision and purchase until next week.

if your using a magnetic whiteboard underneath and then putting anchor magnetic tiles on top, the slipperiness should become a non issue as the magnets clamp the mat in place - of course that does somewhat depend on the thickness of the mat.

We are expecting limited “pull” over a neoprene mat, rather like the terrain trays.

Right now our table is not the smoothest 6x4 set of boards over a 8x3 table. Not the kind of surface I would want to put neoprene on by choice.

We went with the grass mat and savanna mat in 6x4, as well as a beach mat in 4x4. We thought with the 4x4 we could put it on either the 4 foot side or the 6 foot side, and build around it.

We also ordered their cobblestone road (more to use as a negative space pathway rather than a King’s Road) and 5 dice trays as samples for possible future mat purchases. Seeing them in person seems better than trying to judge by photos online... and going to gaming conventions looks off the books for quite some time.

The roads from Early War Miniatures are still in the lead for us but we have not committed to purchasing them just yet.

We are still curious to see what Dungeons & Lasers 3 (Woodhaven) comes up with for roads but we doubt it will be the solution for us, as we expect it to be similar to DF and Wizkids city streets rather than rural roads.

Glad to hear you got your mat situation sorted Grumpy.

Just right taking your time on deciding on roads, as a rash decision could be costly, and in the current climate we all need to be extra cautious.

Well, we won’t really know if it is sorted until the mats arrive and Mrs GG gives them her stamp of approval. But I am trying to remain optimistic.

With the roads, yet again another of our chosen hobby items comes from the UK. Brexit. Sigh.

Hopefully mrs Gnome gives her approval. They do look really nice.

Brexit is nothing short of a complete nightmare for all involved, whether ordering from the UK, or from Europe.

While we in NI, are sort of stuck in the middle.

Absolute shambles.
