Options for 1x1 and 1x2 pieces -- Opinions?

Post by LordWestmark » Sat Sep 26, 2020 12:45 pm

My problem -- I'm looking to add some more 1x2 and 1x2 pieces with the intention to have more ability to break up in the standard 2x2 footprint. My intent is to paint them somewhere between the Caverns deep scheme and the flat gray drybrush I've done with my original dungeon and stone city/castle sets.

I'm looking at both the sewer floors and the short stilts and want to ask for people who already own them -- do the short stilts fill the full 1x1 footprint? It's hard to tell from the picture.

The stilts fill the 1x1 BUT they do not have a nice textured top side to paint. One side has the magnet and the other side is the metal plate, sitting in a slight recess (at least until the glue fails!). The sewer tiles nicely fill the 1x1 and 1x2 spots and the surface can be painted a variety of color schemes. I got a couple of unpainted sets for use as spacers/gradients between dirt and green for DH. There is a ring of them around the CBS building. The green could be toned back to better match the other tiles, but making it darker will not be hard.

Yeah, don't use the short stilts for visible 1x1 squares. They won't work.

You'll need either sewer pieces, Castle pieces, Dungeon of Doom pieces, or Caverns Deep pieces to get your 1x1s and 2x1s.

The unpainted sewer floor set 24 - 1x2 and 12 1x1 is only $30 which for DF is actually pretty cheap coverage. (60 sq inches for $30 is $0.50/sq inch.) While, the unpainted Dungeon floors are actually cheaper (80 sq inches for $27) if they were in stock. They also have the pronounced separation line for each inch on them, that would look a little off in an outdoor setting I would think.
