Jedi Academy Ruins

STAR WARS: DAWN OF DEFIANCE
Episode IV
ECHOES OF THE JEDI

It is a dark time in the galaxy. The Jedi Knights, peaceful guardians of the Old Republic, are all but extinct, exterminated by the Emperor’s sinister agents. But a few Jedi still survive, exiled from the galaxy they once protected and leaving echoes in the Force behind. The Emperor has sensed these remnants and seeks to control them, leaving no chance for future Jedi to arise from the ashes.

Most Jedi stay in hiding, some try to foil the Empire without revealing their existence, and others seek links to their former way of life, risking the wrath of the Emperor in hopes of re-igniting the flame of their ancient order . . .

I've been running my home group through the Star Wars campaign Dawn of Defiance. I used some RoTA and Sci-fi sets to recreate the Jedi Academy at Almas, but forgot to bring a camera - so one of the players took some shots with his cell phone. (sorry for the bad quality!)

We've been playing using the Star Wars Saga rules for the past year, and its been a lot of fun. While I'm not a big fan of d20 rules in general, we all know it well from years worth of D&D.

I've been finding out though, that the best part of a Star Wars campaign is that ALL of us know the lore. Unlike new campaign settings where players take a while to come up to speed to the "norms" of the world, all of us already know what Alderaan is, what a Jedi is, what a Star Destroyer looks like, etc. Even in the past, with the standard fantasy campaigns, there's different nuances depending on if we were playing with Greyhawk, or Forgotten Realms, or a homebrew; there's much less of that with Star Wars which we all grew up with.

The player who took the photos fell in love with the game and with DF, and ordered a bunch of the books, as well as the terrain on his phone before we finished for the day!
