Here are the new gatehouse pieces, and additional walls. As usual, I trying my best to make it compatible with DF, so all the pieces are the same heigth as DF

The last photos are what I'm doing right now, and that I should have done from the start, meaning instead of making normal walls, and then some ruined ones, I can make a wall in 2 pieces that fit together to make a single wall, or 2 ruined ones.

@Stefan, it would be a great way if you intend to make the interior of the wall accessible.

Next step, a square tower

Again - Crioux, you make really incredible pieces!!!

But is this REALLY the direction we want to see DF move into and dedicate their resources to?

I agree, the pieces are very well done, and making them even more modular by making them so that adding a piece turns a ruined section into a finished section is brilliant.

But I also agree that this isn't something that interests me as a potential DF product.

I can't take credit for ideas that aren't mine. The ideas of ruined/normal building came from Bruce Hirst:
castlemolds.com/tips23/tips23.html

And wait till you see the Modular Castle, I think you will be surprised, since it will be easy to use them with standard DF for interior dungeon too. Compatibility is the main goal.

I had an idea about the stacking that would not require any support at all and yet be very stable at any height. This one is probably the one that Stefan will be mostly interested in.

Maybe I'll skip the tower, which is fairy simple and go directly to the castle. Anyway, pieces from the tower and castle will be interchangable.

Nice work. We are working along the same lines it seems...I wish you wouldn't post these pictures here though...some other company might steal your ideas, create them and then it will no longer be viable for us to create it....so, although your intentions are pure, you are "perhaps" destroying the possibility of a DwarvenForge production...

looks amazing! and i am very impressed of all the clever consturction work you put in! are you finished painting the pieces? i think the top sides should look a little bit more exposed to weather and a little moss on the walls would also ad more realism. but agian it looks very cool allready!!!!!
carry on the good work! and despite stefans post i am looking foreward to your next creations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I have more time, I'll perfect the painting. For now they will stay like this until I'm finished with all my other projects.

@Stefan
These aren't any breakthrought ideas, I don't think anyone would steal them. I make them for me, and at the same time show you what it would look like if you ever plan on making something like this. And if someone want to invest TIME and money in Hirst Art to make them themselves, why not! It took me a week, almost full time (molding the bricks, assembling and painting) to make those. But most people prefer paying for DF cause it's ready-to-play.

Anyway if you ever make it, I'm sure it will be a lot better than what I'm doing.

As for the main castle, I will send them to you first, and then post it here if you don't plan on using the ideas.

Almost a week of full time work? WOW!

I could buy quite a few DF sets for a weeks pay! (though I'm sure you get a LOT more out of simply the creative process)

Crioux,
I would very much appreciate it if you sent me your ideas "outside" of the public forum. They are quite good ideas actually, you might think they are not "breakthrough" but I feel you are undervaluing their merit...your posting is sensitive right now only because we are actually working on very "similar" projects....I want to complete these projects so we can put them into production...however, our time line is much slower than yours....I only wish we could create something start to finish in 2 weeks!

My hat is off to you.

No problem. I didn't know you were working on something similar, until you drop a hint about "when we do our wall"...

I will sent you my ideas for castle. It wont't bea ready until a week or two. Maybe you will use them maybe you won't. This is afterall why I'm making these, to sent you my ideas in case you want to use them. Making them public allows others to build them if they want to have them right now, but unless they are as skilled as you and use extra strenght resin , it will never be as good as DF. I'm using hi-strenght Drystone plaster, but breaks still (rarely) occurs.

If you ever do a castle set, I'll buy (who needs two kidneys anyway :) ) because judging from what you made until now, it will be better than mine.

Outdoors are not as easy to do as indoors, but roleplay is not always underground, I think it would fill a gap.

BTW for those who spotted the mat in the pictures, the DM that is currently running the game prefer the mat, but don't worry, when I am the DM, I use DF :)

This is a good example that I could have used my modules if they would have been ready. It was bandit camp in a ruined fortress, with partially destroyed walls and towers.

Crioux,

Thank you very much. In this case, If we use your idea, or if I think your idea helped in some way that wasn't "already obvious" I am happy to send you a complimentary set or two in return for your valuable skills and input.

Thank you for understanding. Being gracious, and for considering our difficult position. If for some reason, it all falls through, and we do not end up producing such pieces, then i am very happy for you to post all your ideas and techniques on our site. This is all up to your kindness and sensability of course, I do not wish to stifle anyone's creativity or rob anyone of the credit they deserve. I only ask you as a favor to Dwarven Forge to hold out until we finish this project, (still somewhat secret) and then, afterwards, please feel free to post all your constructions with our best wishes and gratitude.

You are really doing us a great favor my friend.

This "project" I am working on is a special dream for me actually, one that goes back to before Dwarven Forge was even a thought. I am not sure if it will be successful, producing it will be difficult, but I feel it is something that once realized will be so special that everyone will want to own it. My mother believe's in this project, and she believe's in me so it is with her help most likely that we will be able to risk a project that might not be as fast selling as others have been. Fingers crossed...

Thanks again Crioux.
