A Mixture of newly painted accessories here...it’s mostly Armor Cast, Grendel, and Reaper. I’m sure you guys will recognize most of this stuff.

Ops… Failed his save…

Painting accessories like this; or fire’s for example using florescent paints look cool in medium to low lighted room under a black light.

Just the black light…

DF Confessional…

I got the Grendel doors to work with DF by sacrificing a half dozen wall sections to accommodate the width of the doors. I cut away the openings with a scroll saw and chipped out the remains with a small wood chisel.

I keep saying, dungeon accessories are the way to go!

This is stunning! Fabulous paint job and the setup is great. I have been looking at it for 20 min and I can't decide what my favorite part is. It is all just terrific!

There is a reason so many of us here call you the Dwarven Forge Master IO.
Once again, a most excellent layout and some real creativity & imagination!

It was really cool to see some of the Armorcast terrain items in settings that were really cool.
Plus, they were used in an imaginative fashion I am sure Tim never dreamed of when he was selling them.

Plus, your confessionals IO are just too much.
The whole chapel with a mix of all the companies' items was really nicely done.

The man-eater pod room was a really great trap.
I just wonder why the giant spider has not become a snack yet?

Again IO, a great set-up!
Keep 'em coming!

RF*:

He keeps DOING that stuff! It makes me do strange things, like, oh, I dunno, make custom pieces?

IO Mike:

In-FREAKIN'-credible! Man, you're always challenging me to build stuff - and you never SAY anything, just keep making cool pieces. Remember the risers?

What can I say; you build GREAT accessories. Keep it up.

See ya!

I love that shot with the temple altar and the glowing sun/orb in the background. And that glow-in-the-dark pentacle is just awesome.

Yeah, the lighting is spectacular. I think that's probably a consideration that many don't put the time into, but his pics really illuminate how effective it can be.

...see what I did there? ;-)

jchunick,

What a majestic BUMP! ...nearly 8 years. No one has heard from IO on the forum for a very long time now. I had cross-referenced this thread assuming that you had taken the time to see a few of IO's numerous iconic setups.

Yeah, got confused. Thought I was posting in my thread you were linking from. It didn't help that I'm going back and forth between Minecraft, too.

A Dungeon or a lady Gaga concert set?

I kid, it is amazing to see so many accessories all at once. I would go insane with such a range to chose from.

I used to game with Mike (IncincibleOverlord). He and a friend owned a house together that they and a third friend used to store their combined collection of Dwarven Forge, miniatures, and accessories, and all manner of D&D memorabilia, to paint miniatures, and to game, of course. When they asked me to DM for them they showed me the set up they had for me with a full soundboard and a giant collection of sound effects, lighting effects, computer connected to a big screen on the wall, fake fireplace and torches for mood lighting, etc. It was a Dungeon Master's dream. I ran the entire Shackled City adventure path for them over the course of two years, with many of my own additions and twists, and we had a blast every time we got together.

I lost touch with Mike after he and his friend sold the house and they had a falling out of sorts. I do still game with some of the folks from that group, and I've done my best to recreate something approximating that awesome collection. I don't have nearly as many of the classics they collected from early D&D times, but have had the benefit of the wealth of new Dwarven Forge products over the years, and all the modern miniatures, both prepainted and painted by me (from Reaper and other manufacturers). I've set up a game room at my house and look forward to great gaming days ahead. But I'll never forget the fun times at InvincibleOverlord's place, building and photographing builds and gaming in them.

Mike had an incredibly creative mind for finding new ways to use existing pieces to create outreageous builds. I can't even imagine the builds he would create if he had access to the current stuff available from recent Dwarven Forge sets and the Kickstarter and from things like Reaper Bones and other products on the market today.
