Fun With Cavernous Passages 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I recently got my hands on some pretty badly broken cavern and cavernous passage pieces for way cheap.
Thought came to mind "Perfect stuff to do some mods on" ...
Armed with epoxy putty, clay, the AWESOME Pokorny Paints, several slave trolls and a bucket of Magic (LED Stuff).
Transformation spells in hand.

The first conversions are to Cavernous passage end pieces and a "T" intersection...
Some received extra stalactites, all received one or more LEDs, Bowtie slots filled and Touch-up with the new paints as I wanted these to match a bit better with the new stuff.... Now I have started to highlight all my cavern stuff with the new paints as it really hi lights the details great.
The "T" Intersection has 3 sets of lighting 1) turns on the 3 Brazier wall torches
2) Turns on a single Purple LED in the Pit to give the eerie feeling and 3)turns on 3 Color Changing LEDs in the pit to really make a statement. I added Stalactites around the pit and ledges for them to hang from.

The Second picture are some custom reworks (MODs) where I start with a DF piece cut the heck out of it and create new walls and details.... they also get the above described detail work.... so I now have a bunch of new cavernous passage terminations to add variety to the pile.
More will of course follow as time allows..... And as a teaser the last picture is of a Koi Pond with Color Change LEDs carved into a Cavernous Passage 6" hall section.

As always ...way to much fun....Just the way I like it.

The koi pond looks amazing but i am having a hard time imagining the adventure where the Ogre lives humbly below ground hoarding magical treasure, tending to his Koi and keeping to himself... ;)

I love the look of purple light coming up through a crack from a cavern deep below. It just forces the advenutrers onward and downward to find out what is making that light!

As always John your creations awe and inspire. Thanks for giving me game thoughts on a week when my group skipped our regular session.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys.

Kitenerd: You missed the obvious.... The Koi are a Magical dungeon creatures... some believe polymorphed Mage's of a past era.... they cause d 100 D3 Hits to parties that don't sit and contemplate their beauty.
They also cast a form of Quest upon the weak minded to bring them imported "Purina Koi Chow" and "Frozen Vegetable Medlie's from The far off land of Green Giant"

I'll have some more pictures soon...

Love the koi pond. Just got my hands on a bunch of L5R (Rokugan) books and it'd be a fun piece to have for a hermit in a cavernous spiritual retreat.

Yeah! Ian Has posted here for the first time and on my subject.

Ian if you guys don't know him is a Stellar gamer and first rate guy... I've gotten to know him during the coarse of making a ton of LED converted and custom pieces for his game collection and can say within the first few emails jumped directly into my Friend category. Some people are Customers and there is nothing wrong with that but Ian is someone you will enjoy having as a friend.

Welcome to the Forum Buddy!

PS... I had the idea of a Hermit with a Glowing Pond of Pretty Fish also... Was thinking of one Fish named Wanda and the hermit patterned after John Cleese. ;)

...And perhaps there's an enchantment that can only be broken by two characters performing a fish-slapping dance?

: )

Welcome to the forum, Ian! Lots of fun here.

Now John, you're gonna make me blush... My own mother couldn't write a more glowing introduction, but that's only because she knows me better. ;) Haha.

Glad to be here. I've always envied the resin Dwarven Forge pieces ever since I saw pictures of convention tables years ago. Quite recently I decided to take the plunge myself with Game Tiles. I missed the first Kickstarter -- only saw the link to it after funding had ended -- but found some very attractively priced unboxed Game Tile sets (complete with stretch goals) on eBay a few months ago when deliver began. The price per piece was too good to pass up and I've been hooked ever since. Really looking forward to getting in on the Caverns Kickstarter.

I'd seen John's 3d pieces on eBay several months ago and then again casually browsing the Dwarven Forge forum more recently. I was impressed with his projects and as it turns out he's not only talented, but a stand-up fellow. Anyone who likes Cleese can't be all bad, haha.

Thanks for the welcome fellas.
