The Cavern Tiles look amazing to me. I think they sculpts look BETTER and MORE detailed than the original resin line. I'm super impressed.

That brings me to the Dungeon Tiles. When they originally came out, Stefan had mentioned they couldn't get the level of detail that we originally saw in the resin line with Dwarvenite. I accepted this and thought "Well, even though the Dwarvenite Dungeon Tiles don't look AS COOL as the original resin line, they are good enough." (Actually, I like the floors on the Dwarvenite pieces more - I just think the square brick walls are inferior to the original rounded natural stone look of the resin pieces.)

Now that we know the Dwarvenite pieces can look better than the resin counterparts... I wish we could have had better walls on the original KS1 tiles. Oh well...

(Not my original image, I just found it though Google image search)

Well take into account that the master sets are better painted than Dwarvenite (I paint mine myself and those are even better than master sets).

Also while their walls are prettier, the floors aren't.

I LOVE dungeon tiles. The bricks make a good dungeon but also a passable tavern, temple, castle or jail. That said the beauty of the tumbled stone MasterMaze pieces is undeniable. If there had been a choice, i would have taken round and irregular over bricks any day. With caverns the pieces seem almost identical in appearance and detail level (not that i have held them side by side). I prefer the 2x2 for storage and versatility and the dwarvenite for durability. Couldn't be more happy unless it was November!

I agree strongly with the OP.

The level of sculpting skill in the KS1 tiles (example the backs of the wall pieces) is very low in comparison to the master maze sets. A super paint job can help, but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken feathers.

Definitely the level of detail in KS2 is far superior to KS2. The question will be what comes out of the molds in November. Often plastic cannot show the level of detail that cast can, but we will see. I am hopeful:)
