you might find with 4 lava rivers that you might not be able to encase it completely with 4 lava caverns... I know some people were having just a touch more caverns than lava rivers so that they could have the right complementary walls... as the cavern pack was put together before the river and w/o the river in mind... so I would either increase the caverns by 1 or decrease the rivers by 1

just a thought.

all of the large builds Nate did was with 10 sets + SG, 4 water, and 40 elevation blocks (insides were stacked boxes with the edges covered with tiles).

You have 10 sets + SGs + 4 water (can swap anything out for lava with your 4+4, 3+4, or 4+5 whatever you choose) + 80 elevations blocks

(1 elevation + 2 pedestal packs = 40 blocks)

You should be able to build ANYTHING that DF has up as a DEMO .... PLUS more.

It's not how big your pledge is but how you...

Perhaps some of us with big pledges are just compensating for something...

Are we saying you need to get the Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack to get a really BIG Stalagmite?

Well us with small pledges can only compensate for spending as much as we possibly could. Our three pennies so to speak.

Well, after trying to keep myself at around $2K this might be my final grab:

Painted:
5 base sets
2 Water sets
1 Stalagmite
1 Mushroom
1 Chasm
1 Elevation
1 Floor
1 Wicked Addition pack

Unpainted: (These are for lava and ice cavern painting)
10 base sets (of which I'm keeping 8 sets, gift(s) for Xmas planned)
4 Water sets
1 Stalagmite
3 Chasm (keeping 2)
1 Elevation
1 Floor
1 Narrow dungeon pack
1 Dungeon pack #1
2 Dungeon pack #3
1 Dungeon pack #4
1 Wicked Addition pack

Total: $2025

I couldn't convince myself of the pedestal pack and might make a grab at those later, as it stands I'm getting the equivalent with 1/2 painted and 1/2 unpainted.

Also getting some painted packs, as I have two little ones in the house that demand a lot of time, a video game habit (that I get about 2 hours a night to dabble in), and about 4+ sets of unpainted Game Tile sets I'm still working through. This should save me a little bit of time to get to gaming and painting not only the new caverns but minis and such.

Would love some input, keeping at or near $2K (I pledged for less and really I can't imagine getting any more base sets. ~$2K is about my limit).

The only thing I see is if you want to use all the corners and t-intersections from dungeon pack #3 at the same time, you need 2 full Set#4 for each Set#3 to allow for that.

You are getting 2x set#3 and 1 Set#4...

8 - corners
8 - T-intersections
18 - connectors (4 each Set#3 and 10 in Set#4)

each corner needs 2 connectors so you can use them all w only 2 left over (and no T-intersections used at all)

each T-intersections needs 3 connectors so you can only use a total of 6 intersections at one time w no connectors left over but 2 intersections left over (an no corners used at all)

to use all 8 corners and all 8 T-intersections at the same time you need a minimum of 40 connectors... you will get 8 with your 2 sets#3 so that leaves you with needed 32 connectors and you are only getting 1 set#4 of 10...

just something to think about...

also if you want to have X intersections you need 4 connectors and 1 floor square to do that...

Good call. I will have to play around with it, maybe drop 1 #3 and get an extra #4 or maybe a #2, I'll have to play around with the mapmaker a bit to see what to do there.

I may have a $2.5K pledge, but 15 of the 20 sets are likely going to be sold off for about $1.5-1.8K, so my pledge for myself is in all actuality in the 3 figures.

If I didn't do it this way, my wife would kill me. :) I do the same thing with Magic cards. Buy a collection, keep a few, sell the rest.

I know the feeling dafcra. This thread has turned into my pledge is bigger than your pledge competition. I am glad some of you are doing so well. It is not like we are curing cancer here.

I assure you all that was not my intention when starting this thread. I really was in a quandary with how many rivers to buy as a ratio to sets. +Did I or didn't I really want Lava. +How many chasm packs etc etc.

I changed my pledge three times before settling & everyones comments really helped me make sure I was doing the best I can with what I could afford.
I am not personally a big fan of these huge KS's. For years been very happy buying a couple of sets that I like the look of when I had the money. The whole KS ethos is 'go in quick and go in big'. I certainly blew my budget and am paying penance at home... & on my credit card.... (Exactly how long I need to do all the kitchen chores has not yet been finally agreed!)

Aside from the Dungeon Passage mix that Jenney mentioned, I'd consider swapping out an unpainted chasm pack for an unpainted floor or elevation pack.

Your 8 unpainted cavern sets will get you more than a chasm set worth of chasm pieces in SGs. You've got so many water packs it seems like you're not going for negative space builds much, so not sure of the need for so many chasm pieces. Floor pieces on the other hand will be useful in any builds (and if you want larger ice and lava caverns, you could do 1 floor pack in each paint scheme. If you're going to do elevation at all, you'll need stairs. Consider whether the 2 elevation packs you got are enough for you.

Whether you tweak it or not, looks like a nice package!
