Why do I feel so small....

Serious, I wish I had the money to support this KS at the levels some of you have. DF has earned that kind of support. But alas my budget is a lot smaller than some of you. However, I know I will enjoy my little pledge anyway. :-)

@dafrca

While there have been cost per piece calculations.
I have yet to see the the fun per piece ratio.

I'm sure we will all enjoy our relative purchases and have just as much fun with them.

I know the feeling dafcra. This thread has turned into my pledge is bigger than your pledge competition. I am glad some of you are doing so well. It is not like we are curing cancer here.

I got ten unpainted sets (prefer my own painting) and 17 add ons.

I am still trying to wrap my head around how you can use 30 sets at any given time.

I mean that is one seriously HUUUUUUUGE cave. :)

@dafrca and @brvheart

i don't believe that was ever the intent with this thread. Large or small orders are what is right for the person, their family (if necessary), and their budget...

The fun that we have with these tiles cannot be counted in $...

I think the original intent of this thread was to get feedback on your selection to see if you might be over pledged on some items and under pledged on others...

Things where people was other to give them creative feedback on their choices or their other options that may give them what they were looking for but in a different combination/selection.

for example, I have gone from 1,2,3,4,4 to 1,1,3,4,4, to 1,3,4,4 in my combination of dungeon passageways from countless conversations and refining what type of builds I am interested in and what will give me that flexibility but still minimize the effect on my budget.

currently I am debating the need of 1 floor pack vs 2 floor packs in conjunction with my other selections... will i be okay w just 1 or will i find that I have to have water present all the time to make any sort of cavern, or do I really need that second floor pack to round out my whole order...

I never intended to pledge shame anyone. I really like to see what others have gotten, even if they were well above my budget. I like to see their rationale and choices being made. I can sometime apply those ideas to my own builds or add-on choices...

though, really, I will have to pick 1 pack or 2 packs of floors soon... decisions are my own worst enemy.

Re:Cavern KS - Peer Pledge Review 4 Months, 4 Weeks ago
My financial situation got tighter during the KS, so I had to shave my intended pledge to the bone (from my perspective). I have to admit I do feel a bit of jealousy toward those that got to spend in the 1k plus range. I don't begrudge them their awesome pledges however, I'm glad for both the pledgers and DF that there are such large pledges coming in. After all, every last penny that went in before the end helped me get more, and the more goodies everyone has and shares with fellow hobbyists and the larger world the more people can get into this cool hobby.

I will get more out of the store later when more money that isn't spoken for comes in. Even if the folks touting big pledge numbers are competing with one another a bit and bragging a pinch, I'm fine with that. After all, more money in DF's pockets means good paychecks for Jeff and Stefan and better funding for more goodies in the end. So if a little healthy competition gets them a few more bucks, fine by me!

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

Yeah, it's def. not a competition! I only chimed in because some where wondering what the highest pledge might be. That said, I know many others are getting and keeping way more tiles than I am since I'm ordering for others and am sharing the game night with Stefan with a group of 5-7 other people.

I agree that the fun / $ ratio is what matters most. For me and my group, I think that level is probably just a few hundred dollars since we've had immense fun with just a few sets on the table at a time. And when you think about it, we got five or six hours of play for 6 people out of say $200 worth of Game Tiles....which is about the cost of all of us going to see six hours worth of movies. So, yeah, Game Tiles are a great deal no matter how you look at it.

Add-ons:
1 x Lava cavern (dungeon grey)
3 x Water (dungeon grey)
2 x Elevations (dungeon grey)
1 x Pedestals (dungeon grey)
2 x Floors (dungeon grey)
2 x Stalagmites (dungeon grey)
1 x Wicked Additions (dungeon grey)
1 x Chasms (dungeon grey)
1 x Shrooms (Expertly Hand Painted)

Dungeon add-ons:

I just keep telling myself that the Dungeon passageways are for Christmas... Dungeon Passageways are for Christmas... Dungeon Passageways are for Christmas... Let's just hope that I can remember this and stick to my guns when the giant DF shipment gets here come November

It was never my intent to make this a game of one upmanship. I just wanted to add to the thread what I was purchasing and why so that others could see another view point and ask questions as to why. Please remember the over 2K of my cost is the game day with Stefan so I only spent about 3K on sets and I was originally only getting 5 base sets. The extra 5 base sets are probably going to be a Christmas gift for my son. So, please, if you are posting to this thread, it should be with the intent of helping others, not showing off.

To give more information, my wife and split ours up so we would be able to claim separately when we go across the border. It's a consideration if you're from Canada and doing that as you can claim so much duty free depending on how much time you stay in the US.... after 48 hours you can claim up to $800.

As for how we decided... well, as you can see, we are going all unpainted. It was the best bang for our buck... besides, I enjoy painting when I have the time. The two add-on sets I don't think I got enough of were the water and chasms. I would have pledged for two more of each - for sure water, maybe only one chasm. But the way I look at it I can still get more after the fact when I figure out if I need more. The big reason for water is that I plan on painting regular water, and at least lava, if not some other scheme such as boiling mud or slime or some such.

Lastly, when it came time I didn't have the inclination on figuring how much of each set of dungeon passages I should get for the optimum setup so I just quickly guessed at 2, 1, 2, 1 for #'s 1-4. Again, I can get more later if I find I need more of a certain tile.

Sorry if putting the total down seemed like some competition. I guess it's not too different from those who stick in their sig at the bottom of their posts how many sets they own.

Got me 10 painted cavern sets and was hoping to get some input on what a good complimentary ratio of the following sets would be:

My thoughts are in ()
Lava Cavern (4)
Water cavern (4)
Lava river (4)
Wicked cavern (2)
Floor pack (4)
Large Pedestal (4)
Elevation Pack (2)
