If I were you, I'd up the base sets back up to 8 to get those SGs and possibly save on chasm or floor packs, as the SG only pieces like Corner C will probably end up in repackaged add-ons later that might be a pain to buy because of redundancy and shipping cost later on. You may have a few more walls than you think you'll need, but the versatility and sheer number of the SGs and extra base floors etc. will make it worth it I would think. Just my 2 cents.

My pledge isn't finalized yet either, so feel free to let me know if you see any flaws in my thinking :-).

Happy pledging!

I have been running some scenarios and initially I thought the 8 sets would be better but it might depend on how Kevinabrody is looking at the individual types of pieces.

The reason I say this is because at the current sets Kevinabrody plans on buying, that is:
Current Scenario - $1,080
1 x 5 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $455
Add-Ons Selected
1 x 3-Brush Variety Pack of Pokorny Quality Brushes $10
1 x NEW! Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $55
3 x Floor Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $165
2 x Water Cavern Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $100
1 x Chasm Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $40
2 x Elevation Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $140
1 x Large Pedestal Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $60
1 x Narrow Passage Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $55

I get a total of: 509 pieces (including stretch goals and add-ons).
*3 Floor Packs with 15 4x4" tiles is equivalent too 60 2x2" floor tiles. So in my simple mind: 509-15 = 494 + 60 = 554

Alternate Scenario #1 - $1,080

1 x 2 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $205
1 x 5 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $455
1 x 3-Brush Variety Pack of Pokorny Quality Brushes $10
1 x NEW! Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $55
1 x Floor Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $55
2 x Water Cavern Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $100
2 x Elevation Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $140
1 x Large Pedestal Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $60

I get a total of: 527 pieces (including stretch goals and add-ons).
*1 Floor Pack. 527 - 5 = 522 + 20 = 544.
** Although, you do get more walls, corners, etc. from stretch goals.

Alternate Scenario #2 - $1,135

1 x 2 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $205
1 x 5 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $455
1 x 3-Brush Variety Pack of Pokorny Quality Brushes $10
1 x NEW! Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $55
2 x Floor Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $110
2 x Water Cavern Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $100
2 x Elevation Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $140
1 x Large Pedestal Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $60

I get a total of: 548 pieces (including stretch goals and add-ons).
*2 Floor Packs. 548 - 10 = 538 + 40 = 578.
** Costs $55.00 more than pledge right now.

Edit: One more scenario

Alternate Scenario #3 - $1,110

1 x 10 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $875
1 x 3-Brush Variety Pack of Pokorny Quality Brushes $10
1 x NEW! Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $55
2 x Water Cavern Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $100
1 x Elevation Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $70

I get a total of: 635 pieces (including stretch goals and add-ons).
*No Floor Packs
**1 Elevation Pack only
*** Costs $30.00 more than pledge right now.

I hate to say this, but you cannot add base sets in Pledge Manager, only add-ons. You can lower them I suppose. I am not sure if you are committed there or not.

This is not true. You cannot add FUNDING for base sets in the Pledge manager, but you can sure as heck add base sets as long as your pledge amount covers them.

I really appreciate the comments and analysis...

@zenmaster - I value my time greatly...if I can get an awesome finished product, well, that just leaves me more time to work on something else. My wife works on Saturdays, so I run errands early and have most of Saturday afternoon to do my gaming related stuff…I have not even touched my XBOX since I discovered Hirst Arts…

When you said "The point being that people should value their time!!!! I was not going to get any large pedestal packs, thinking that even as a hack at crafting, I can use foam to make elevation inserts etc., but... it dawned on me that in the grand scheme of things, spending 60$ a pack is worth every penny to get cool looking, expertly painted, modular elevation pieces that will save me from driving to a Home Depot, buying foam or wood, and taking time away from work/kids/gaming to figure out a solution which probably wouldn't look that great anyway."

You are so on point! I never understood the person who will drive an hour to a store to save $10 on something; for me, that hour is way more valuable.

And I think you are right about going back up on the number of base sets...

@600lbpanther - thanks for the alternate scenarios! I have eyed the 10 set as well just for the sheer number of pieces...but I really want plenty of elevations-more than 1 pack can provide.
And I know this is my own weirdness, but I don’t think I can get an odd (5/2) number of sets…it would have to be 5/3 so I get an even number of all the stretch goals.

And now I am full circle, with what I calculated originally, only now I am adding the second floor pack…so, pledge increased to $1,135 for the following:
Rewards Selected
1 x 3 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $285
1 x 5 Cavern Sets (Expertly Hand Painted) $455

Add-Ons Selected
1 x NEW! Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $55
2 x Floor Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $110
2 x Water Cavern Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $100
1 x Elevation Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $70
1 x Large Pedestal Pack (Expertly Hand Painted) $60

So really, this is very close to Alternate Scenario #2, only I get another base set and lose brushes and an elevation pack. That is a good trade off I think.

And I am still planning on 3 sets of Catacombs 2 in June. No Pathfinder mini cases for me this year.

Again, thanks for the comments!

That is a great selection. That puts you at 584 pieces but with my mentality on floor packs where 1 4x4" floor space = 4 2x2" floor space it looks more like: 584 - 10 4x4" tiles = 574 + 40 = 614 which is comparable to the 10 set option but you also get a pedestal pack.

I'm glad you decided on the extra 3 cavern sets as it really gives you a huge selection to work with now.

Well, here is my final order, all hand painted as I don't have the time to do that:

1 Grand Master Patron (10 base sets)

Add-Ons

2 x Floor Pack (can never have enough)
1 x Lava River Pack (just because)
1 x Lava Cavern Pack (again, just because)
6 x Water Cavern Pack (I want enough to make something really good)
4 x Chasm Pack (again, I want enough to make something really good)
2 x Elevation Pack (these will help supplement others I have)
1 x Large Pedestal Pack (again, these will help supplement others I have)
3 x Narrow Passage Pack (need to expand what I already have)
1 x Stalagmite Pack (again, need to expand what I already have)
1 x Mushroom (just for the uniqueness)
3 x Narrow Dungeon Passage Pack (supplementing what I already have)
5 x Dungeon Passage Pack #1 (finally expands my room and passage sets)
5 x Dungeon Passage Pack #2 (finally expands my room and passage sets)
5 x Dungeon Passage Pack #3 (finally expands my room and passage sets)
5 x Dungeon Passage Pack #4 (finally expands my room and passage sets)
2 x Wicked Cavern Pack (can't pass this up)

Grand Total: $5260

This will supplement my 5-sets and add-ons from the first kickstarter and the 25+ sets of Master Maze that I have gotten over the years.

I guess I should add the ride we will rent to go to Stefan's (we are only about 60 miles away) for the group of 8 going, but I don't know what that is yet. The whole gaming group is looking forward to that!

I wonder if you have the highest pledge... I know DF will never release who pledged the most (and they shouldn't). Mine was about $2.5K, but I plan on selling some to drive the cost of the stuff I'm keeping down, so in actuality my pledge for what I'll have in the end isn't what I'm being charged. :P

Addicted to DF - Proud owner of 147 DF sets and counting = 126 new non-bowtie sets, and 21 older bowtie sets! By some miracle, I have managed to avoid wife aggro so far...

Awesome Sorn.

You warned others about being careful about their established budget and have one of the highest pledges...if not the highest...without ever stating your budget until now.

edit: Hand painted also. Awesome. Please post ideas if you diverse from lava, ice, and rock caverns. I am hand painting mine and would like to hear.

I'm glad you posted this. Thank-you.

Looks like Sorn has spent more than I. We probably have about the same number of sets now as I have more of the older ones. I doubt I have the most though, probably far from it. I am not necessarily a collector, I use them for gaming and want them for the flexibility of set ups. They all will see use.
