Room of Confusion - many colored tiles 8 Months ago
Started out with the idea of a room with many colored tile.

- painted up a bunch in Dwarven Forge Game Tiles painted with all different color schemes drybrush and washes. I hadn't seen any done in washes, it seems like they all get drybrushed, so thought I would try a few - and they look great with washes too.

Your tiles are fun.

My Two year old approves as well. When I clicked on an image showing the various colors he ran up and pointed to one in sandstone and said, "Bakak!"
In a very excited way.

I think the Olive based with sandstone dry edge is perhaps the best.

But many of these would make fun schemes overall.

Awesome idea! I'm glad to see that the test-tile you did for me was not a waste! It works well in this room!

You officially WIN AT LIFE.

A really clever idea right out of the mind of Dragon's Lair, and incredibly well implemented.

Way to go!

I think this will look MUCH better without the Chamber of Chaos tiles.

Do up another 14 tiles in random colors.

The Chamber of Chaos tiles are confusing indeed... but not in a good way. I think the multi-colored tiles will give you a more "prismatic" look that is association with confusion spells.

Sorrows, but yeah, now that I really look at it, I think the red lines are distracting. If the OP has regular, unpainted tiles, I'd reckon that flat black with a dark DARK grey drybrush would finish the look quite nicely.

Still, the whole affair looks bad ass, even with the red lines.

I REALLY like the green wash on the tile. Hmm, some forest or jungle temple floor left to allow some nature to grow on it maybe. Great job. Thanks for showing the contrast between the drybrush and washing.

glad you liked it - thanks for the nice comments.

I'm still deciding how to paint up my remaining floor tiles, but in my testing I found it looked better with one half of the checkerboard being consistent and the other half being random, but could just as easily use dungeon gray or unpainted, although its funny - I am started to get low on unpainted floor tiles, but I still have lots of walls unpainted. ;-)
