TOPIC: My Painting Attempt
#58278
My Painting Attempt 1 Year ago
Here are some of my painting jobs. I used the paints supplied by DF. The CofS wall and the secret door are factory painted and used for comparison purposes.

Let me know any thoughts you may have.

I am thinking of using Krayon Crystal Clear Gloss spray. Any thoughts on that?

Also, for CofS the gold dry brush is for walls only?

Nice work Gryphon!

I think your walls are the closest to factory paint i have seen yet - very nicely done. I too will be attempting some CoS painting we'll see if i can do as well as you did!

(This is what went through my head)

Okay, I need a couple more sets for the blue theme, I think I can use that eventually. And probably a couple more for the red/evil set to expand on the CoS addon I'll buy...

I love how your pieces turned out. They look very nice. I especially love the Blue/black tile and I'm definitely emulating that.

I'm interested to see what the blue theme will look like in a large room...

These two pieces seem tacky still the morning after 8 hours. On the link Stefan provided as to which paints can be used, these ones were identified as being ok.

Now I am concerned I cant do the whole set. How long should I wait to decide if this is a failure because of the tackiness?

Also, if they stay tacky and I spray them with the Krayon gloss sealant, is there a chance the sealant will dry fine and mask the tackiness?

Thanks,
Gryphon

perhaps put a fan blowing across them for a few hours ?

I have used a matte sealer before on tacky paint with good result.. but i would try using the fan method first...

I used the liquitex basics for the detail work on my dungeon dressing sets, and it dried without being tacky. However, I didn't have to coat them nearly as thickly as you did there, I'm wondering if that's part of it? I'd try putting a fan on them, or even using a blow dryer on a low setting perhaps.

The pieces have just about lost all tackiness. I am assuming it was due to the amount of paint required and just took longer to dry. On the plus side, they have retained some of the glossiness.

I will post the rest of the blue room if I get it finished this weekend.

No I didn't. To be honest I don't have a fan or hair dryer in the house. I just went to work and when I came back they were much better, still not 100% but much better. I was thinking of leaving them over the furnace vents.
