I painted my first few tiles to try out the pokorny method and here's my sample:

(The flash reflected weirdly in some places...)

The base grey step worked very well and was easy. The big Pokorny brush is awesome.

Then I picked out some stones with Earth Stone. I quickly switched to one of my wide camel hair brushes. This way I was able to paint most stones in only 1 or 2 strokes. After I did some, I mixed in some olive dry brush to create a lighter toned brown and picked out a couple more stones on each piece. It's subtle but I think it turned out well adding just a little variation.

The olive dry brush step worked well.

But then I tried to use the Stone edge dry brush and man, that looks harsh. I found it hard to control for my amateur painting skills. It's just way too bright. I then switched to using apple barrel granite grey, and I liked that a little better. The tiles on the right in the picture were done with the grey drybrush. I'm undecided whether I want to do a last drybrush step or just leave it with the 1st 3 paints... I kinda like the darker dirtier look. I think I'm going to play around with some other shades of grey for the final drybrushing and see what I like best.

In any case I can do all my tiles with the 1st 3 steps and then decide to do a final drybrush or not later.

I think you've done an excellent job. I'd be proud to put those on my table. Maybe your final drybrush is a little heavy but with practice you'll get better. Did you try Stefan's tip about doing the drybrush against your skin to feel how much paint is on the brush? That works well for me.

I was really amazed at just how much I could dry the brush out, and still get color out of it for the stone edges. I found that if I really dried it out enough, I could get some really cool edging with it, and do 2 - 3 pieces that way.
