TOPIC: Received my tiles!

Received my tiles! 9 Months ago
The Fed Ex guy called me today and let me know he had a large shipment coming in, I rushed to meet him and was ecstatic to see that it was my Dwarven Forge Tiles. They came in five fairly heavy good sized boxes.

I'm planning on moving soon so I told myself that I wouldn't open any of the boxes until I was settled in my new place. That lasted about 15 minutes before I tore the first box open. It was stuffed full of dungeon tiles paint and my carry tote. I soon opened a second box that contained the add ons.

Overall I'm very glad I backed this kickstarter and I'm happy with the deal I got. The few negatives are that a few of the walls are bowed outward and don't line up 100% straight. It's pretty minor and easy to look past. There were a few doors that were a little more warped and wouldn't open or close right. The dwarven door looked really cool but the one I got in my first packaged was warped pretty badly, I haven't opened the others yet. The secret door was one of the pieces I was looking forward to the most. I was a little disappointed with the gap around the secret door.

On the positive these things look great! I went with unpainted and thought they looked awesome in their stock grey color. I had not planned on painting anything until after I moved, but I did order paint and since Stefan was kind enough to include some free brushes the call to try my hand at painting these awesome little tiles was just too strong.

I've never painted any miniatures before and have no artistic talent. I must have watched Stefan's painting video about a hundred times while I've been waiting for my tiles so I knew exactly what to do. I started with a drybrush of the grey color and was stunned at what a difference one simple dry brushing made. I almost stopped there because the tiles looked pretty good to me like that, I'd be happy to play with them with a simple drybrushing of grey. I went ahead and went through with all the steps in the video and came out with a result I just love.

If you have any fear of painting these tiles yourself it's probably unfounded. If you follow Stefan's instructions you will be happy with the results.

I received my tiles in the month promised which is probably about three months early by kickstarter standards. Overall I'm glad I backed this kickstarter, I'm looking forward to caverns.

EDIT: I tried to include pictures with this post but they were to large and I don't know how to resize them.

Trey,

Go through your picture preview program pulldowns (alliteration!) and see if there is an option to resize your pictures.

(Make sure you are looking at a copy if you want to keep one the original size -- not all programs create a copy when they resize a file.)

Remember, your target is <500KB and <1650 pixels across.

How many sets and add-ons did you get with five boxes?
