Now that was funny. I can imagine the feeling you had when you realized the boxes were not your tiles.

I hope you get your soon.

Now I was thinking you were like me and actually received your game tiles today. I must say the first box I opened was the stairs add on and that was when I saw this thread. I would not say I was "very' disappointed, but I was disappointed with the quality of this set. However, when I later opened the main set they are of much better quality. Not quite what I had expected, but close enough. I did not expect them to be polymer based after so many really nice resin sets. They are ok, but I am glad we didn't break the bank on them. 5 sets and 2 add ons between all of our group is about right for the quality vs cost. I am just sad that the cost of resin has gone up so much that they are all but eliminating it.

I think it was the stairs add on.

The kickstarter was based on the use of a new material. The nature of the material was discussed on the forums during the kickstarter.

Nothing is being eliminated.

What can I say? I am spoiled by over 10 years and 40+ boxes of Master Maze. DF did send out a survey a week or so ago on what limited sets they will be putting out for the last time next year at the higher prices due to cost. Like I said, they are well worth the approx. $55/set that we paid, I just paid originally $60 for a lot of my sets of Master Maze. A lot I have paid over double that as the price has gone up with costs. Personal preference I guess, I am not getting into the bones kickstarters at all due to not wanting plastic minis, especially ones I have to paint. I prefer metal. And yes it was the stairs add on that was a little disappointing. Very small, light and too easily lost.

The "last time" part only applies if there is too little demand for a set. They can't very well keep all the molds around forever (they take up space that could be occupied by resin molds for things that sell), if there isn't enough demand they can't order them anywho, and if demand is that low it only makes sense to replace them.

The idea is that dwarvenite (the polymer) will be the go to material for any basic sets since it is cheaper and readily mass produced. Resin will remain for limited editions and items that won't sell in huge quantities. The old sets that have enough demand will still be here for everyone. Resin isn't going away. I will paraphrase Stefan's favorite analogy, "Resin is like the Corvette and dwarvenite is like the Camaro".

Never fear, so long as the demand supports it, resin will be here to stay. Like any other business DF has to make the right calls from a business perspective. Very nice for us though, they try to make those calls as far to the favor of the fans as they can.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

Well we are more likely to in the future to buy more Corvettes for us although probably a few less with prices continuing to go up.

That is so close to my experience that it's inconceivable... it is like some nefarious force was at work!

Regardless of *strangely* similar choices in brick-work and an identical number of children, what happened to KiteNerd couldn't possibly happen twice! Since I wasn't working on home renovations, these boxes could only contain Game Tiles!

Needless to say... I wasn't just very disappointed....

....I was MAD when I found out that...

A pox on both your houses Ashton Kutcher.... A POX!!!!
