New Storage Options acquired on eBay... Safeco! 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
After purchasing 20 sets of the KS1, I had not found a good solution to store them and still have easy access to them. Add on top painting them various theme colors (overrun mossy dungeon, regular dungeon, etc), requiring the ability to not have them in a big gigantic pile, I was stuck. And another 20 sets of KS2, I was losing hope.

On another thread I found a solution with Safeco, but they were expensive at $1200 per 5 drawers. Then I decided to search and found a company selling six sets of drawers and two bases spread between two auctions in Ohio.

Well, I got a quote from my freight company and the two pallets would cost me $378.12 (for both, combined) to ship them to Utah.

So, I bid and won six drawers and two bases for just over $330, + 378.12 in shipping :)

Here are the auctions.

First auction...

Second auction...

I'm pretty excited, as these will be able to hold far more terrain items than just the Dwarven Forge stuff.

Thanks for a great forum for sharing ideas. :)

Welcome to the DF forum Talistran!

I guess the thread you are referring to is mine. I'm glad I inspired you.

So, if I understand you correctly, you paid only $120 per Cabinet of 5 drawers including delivery. This is an awesome deal! Congratulations! I keep seeing people going for lousy plastic when all you have to do is keep browsing eBay for the perfect deal to show up. The best deals are when these cabinets show up in your region with free local pick-up. Finally, have you properly evaluated how much space you need for such cabinets? These are humongous, heavy and you will soon have 6 of them! My entire DF collection of 60 Resin Sets fits in only 2 5-drawers Safco cabinets. I guess you might easily resell some of if needed to a local DF fan.

Finally, if I remember correctly reading the Safco documentation, do not store more than 4 units on top of each other.

Cheers!

Biowizard,

Yes, your pictures and information are what inspired me. And your math is spot on, $708.12 for six drawers = $118.02 per 5-drawer cabinet, and the bases were free.

My gaming room is currently 16ft x 20ft, but is being torn down in our remodel this summer. The new one will be 28ft x 16ft.

I plan stacking them 3 tall, side by side (so 3x2) on the bases that are provided with them, and then having shelves above the drawers. Mine are the 36 x 24 x 2" drawers.

I plan on storing a bunch of other pieces as well in them. I have 30-40 orc huts, dozens of wagons, hundreds of pieces of furniture, hundreds of chests/barrels/crates, etc. I am looking at maybe having some foam cut for the bottom and storing some metal miniatures in them as well (dusting thousands of miniatures gets old quickly). We'll see... :)

Anyways, I'm excited.

I recently upgraded my installation. I have bought sheets of velvet cut and sowed to size which I now lay at the bottom of each drawer. This way, nothing moves when I open and close drawers. Furthermore, my most beautiful self-painted pieces now look as rare museum pieces or even precious jewelry carefully laying in these collectors' drawers. There are many shades available for velvet and I choose one that really looks classy: dark forest green. ;-)

@ AnimeSensei if it make you feel better, you are way east of me. :D

most of the folks I bump into on the forums who live in California (where I am at) are a couple hundred miles away.
