Wicked Additions - Oh MY! 6 Months, 1 Week ago
this just in:

Announcing the Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack!

Thank you all for casting over 1,100 Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack votes. Based on your input, Stefan has chosen the composition of this set. It will include*:

Creature Mouth Cavern Entrance (enter if you dare) qty: 1
Rock Cave-in / Rocky slope (dead end, staircase, to hide a hidden area?) qty: 2
Waterfall (what lies behind?) qty: 4
Secret Door (a secret area or surprise ambush!) qty: 1
Transition Wall (one side is a dungeon, climb through the hole, discover the cavern!) qty: 1
Short Burrowed Passage (tunnel out from the cavern) qty: 2
Burrowed Lair (lair of the ???) qty: 2
Critter Hole Wall (Rats, Beetles, Ants, oh dear!) qty: 2
Double Height Stalactite Column (goes great with the elevation pack) qty: 2
We know… it’s a lot of new molds, but we were overwhelmed by your input, and had an impossible task choosing.

Stefan is busy drawing these up now. You’ll see more specifics – and you can add the Wicked Cavern Add-on Pack to your existing (2+ set) pledge when the Fundafull Pledge Manager goes live later this week. Tentative price: $40 in Dungeon Gray and $55 Expertly Painted (+$20 for shipping outside the US).

This is an UNBELIEVABLY generous package of WOW! 17 pieces and an incredible 8 molds and they still kept the price at $55 Amazing - Thank you Jeff & Stefan for treating us so well.

I am more excited than ever by Caverns - in one pack they just seeded a half a dozen different storylines... can't wait to see the sculpts!

Wow! That's really generous, guys.

In fact, it's everything I wanted and more than I asked for. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to the critter burrow stuff, but here it is!

Jeff, Stefan… do either of you own a red suit with white trim?

This sounds so good. Can the waterfalls stack to make a tall waterfall?

An EXTREMELY important point to note is the last line of the KS update, which was not emphasized by the original poster in this thread:

"Quantities and price are tentative; to be confirmed when listed on Fundafull. "

The different pieces will all be in there, but don't jump all over Dwarven Forge if the price is a bit higher or the composition is a bit different when the package appears on Fundafull.... They gave fair warning.

They're obviously trying to do their best by all the backers; what they've accomplished so far in responding to people's desires has been very impressive, and I am very thankful and appreciative of their efforts. All the offerings of this KS may not be ideal purchases for 100% of potential buyers but that would be impossible, of course and shouldn't be expected. The sheer quantity and quality of options is staggering and should be highly commended.

I really couldn't have hoped for anything better than that. It fills all my needs perfectly, and has more cool stuff that I hadn't even considered. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the pieces (whether WIP or sketches).

Yes, I can understand the tentative nature of the quantities and price, but it sounds good to me!

I work in an industry where die costs can range from $18,000 - $30,000 per set of dies to produce one part. Low quantities from 1,000 to even 5,000 parts annually can dramatically affect a job by dollar amounts per piece. I am not sure of the cost of each of these sliding mold dies since it is a different industry but I am sure one point is the same: The more you run off of one set of dies the lower your costs and more your profit.

I do not see why the costs per add-on would not go down due to the vast amount of orders that even surpass initial expectations. Of course, I do not expect them to go down and I am not asking them to go down. However, I would be suprised if the prices went up when the funding for this KS increased so much that they had to invent a new stretch goal for it. If I own a company and I see people saying things such as "Hey, this is so cheap!!" or "Wow, don't be surprised if the prices actually go up!" I am saying ... "we can price point even greater...hell...they're even asking for it! Let's give the people what they want..."

Do I think Stefan or Jeff are out to run people into the ground? Hell no. Do I think they became a successful company by missing out on opportunities? Hell no.

If I quoted you wrong here Cody N please let me know!!

"Your right. We don't have the inside info on DF's budget and costs, so all we can do is talk about what we want, and then mom and dad (Stefan and Jeff...no sure which is mom/dad hah)will have to tell all us kids that Santa couldn't fit a pony in his sleigh.

Till then... im gonna keep adding to my Christmas list.
Hmm...how about pony and cart sets??? ;)"

I know how it is to be on the outside looking in and I know it wasn't intentional of you but some people might not have read it!!

Now it is time for decisions decisions. It sounds good, but I admit I will need to see the pictures before I make a final choice.

Especially all the animal stuff. Teh rest sounds great, but I am not sure how useful the animal stuff will be.

Bring on the pictures!

But I do admit, this add-on looks like one that will not be the same once they hit retail, so it might be better to get it now. Dungeon dressing was a far better deal Ks than once it hit retail.

Nice, definitely getting 1 set.
Maybe two depending on the final pictures, but something else may have to go.
There is only so much doom one wallet can handle.

Additional thoughts, really minor insignificant thoughts.
It would be nice if the stalagmite could also find its way into the stalagmite addon pack.
I would like some cavern dressing, piles of bones, lair items, sacks etc.
As I use the CoS skulls and DD barrels all the time.

But honestly, its a really good selection.
Thanks
