Any chance you could put together another video, except this time showing the lava set and the lava river set that I saw on your desk in the background of one of your videos?

Thanks for the hard and excellent work you did on behalf of DF!

Lava stuff was easy for me to pass on... wasn't too impressed by the paint scheme on the caverns, the rivers came along and they got more tempting...

Then... Along comes the video and in the more dramatic lighting the lava stuff looked super awesome

Then the link to MR Dandy volcano, which would look so awesome feeding that river...

In the end i spent WAY too much already, but the more i see of the lava the more tempting it becomes

Don't tell Stefan (or anyone else as nobody has seemed to notice), but to me it looks like he got the lava river paint scheme backwards. It should actually go from cool on the outside (red) to hot on the inside (white)... so red -> orange -> yellow -> white <- yellow <- orange <- red.

That's another reason why I'm going to be painting my lava tiles and lava river tiles myself.

Stefan actually has it right I think. The Lava rivers I've seen usually cool and crust over in the middle, while the edges are brighter as the flow stops them from crusting.

Actually, take a look at this picture - it looks like Stefan may have gotten it right.

Yeah, I searched again after posting... I'm mainly going for the many lava paint jobs I've seen which tend to be more crusty sections with lava flows showing between the cracks. I do see that an exposed flow tends to cool at the centre from those pics... it's interesting to note, though that the head (source?) of the exposed flow is a white hot...

at any rate, I find there's something not completely right with Stefan's paint job and it looks like I'll have to study and do some more paint tests to get it to what I feel is right.

....same reason I ducked out of getting any Lava in the end.
It just feels wrong. What is in motion should be yellow !?
Btw - This is what really swayed me: The two sets of DF Hellscape sets I and II I already own.

Another hands-on demo video is on the top of my to-do list.

In addition to Lava, I'd love to get the remaining completed pieces on camera for everyone. That Lizard Mouth Door for instance, has some awesome detail that needs to be showcased.

My capability to create new content has been waylaid by my paid commercial work. It's been insanely busy for the last few weeks. Have had clients in and out of my office. Hoping I can break through the workload this week and get some DF time in.

I really want to get some new video material out for you guys before the pledge manager opens and everyone has to finalize their orders. I'd love for everyone to get a nice, up close look at all the pieces, before they have to make decisions. I think (and hope) it helps you figure out which sets are the most appealing to you.

At the very least, I'll have some new stills of a bunch of the sets. Nothing epic, just some simple builds and clear shots of all the pieces together for scale.

Cross fingers and let's see what happens this week...

Oh, and regarding the paint job on the rivers. I think looking cool trumps realism. And those lava rivers indeed look really cool when they're laid out.

Nate,
You had mentioned a Lizard Mouth Door - what are you refering to? Is that part of the Wicked Add On Pack?

Also in a previous post you had mentioned a yet-to-be released piece that allowed the two bridge pieces to be used as an "extra long" bridge. Does that piece allow the overhang seen in the pictures? Otherwise I dont know how you got the bridges to stay without falling? (Maybe that adhesive you mentioned?)

Thanks and looking forward to more amazing videos =)

I think I found the answer...

If you look in the photo gallery pictures and on the right side choose "Photos added on the last day" there are a few setups in there which appear to have a Lizard Door. Good hunting.
