I too really want MBS as the next KS and have read the quote about a dungeon being anything with defined spaces and encounters but I think I read it in my 2nd ed dungeon builders guide book. I think that as the 3rd KS would be a hit now do I think it will be bigger than the caverns KS...no but the bar was set so high it will take alot to do that and that is cool. For the MBS you wouldn't need the sliding molds so sets could be on par price wise with original game tiles not to mention the possibility for so many accessories would be awesome. I know we already have dwarvenite tables and barrels but there could be so many other things that could go along with this set. I am really keeping my fingers crossed for it!

I have yet to see an idea that would be wanted by enough people for a large KS. MBS is ok, but I can build almost the same with room sets. Sewers can be built with caverns or rooms depending on the style. Woodland/Forests are better done with open terrain pieces. Depending, I may just skip the next one.

If ever KS3 is buildings, I would like cobblestone pieces to make streets!

Hey biowizard what kind of cobble stone street?

I ask because if the 3rd KS is Sewers/MBS

Some kinds of cobblestone tiles could be used as sewer walkways and sidewalks or streets.

Really any cobblestone could, just some of the really round stick up stone style don't look as good to my eyes.

If floor/ground tiles are done for cobblestones, they will pretty much have to be done without a pattern, or with a pattern that is fully realized within the footprint of a single tile and radial enough that the orientation of the individual tiles doesn't impact the pattern when multiple cobblestone tiles are placed side by side. Which is not difficult to do.

However, that means some of the sweeping and directional patterns of real cobblestone can't be done unless cobblestone tiles come in straight, turn, "T", and "L" configurations.

I would be interested in MBS or sewers, however not to the same extent that I have gone into caverns and game tiles. Enough to build the traditional tavern or few rooms at the start of a sewer. I'm more interested in variety rather than quanity now, dressing, tranisitions, center pieces and small addons which I can use with the bulk of my existing tiles.

For GameTiles sewers, I would much rather have a small number of new pieces that work with the existing dungeon pieces, and once again I advocate the negative space approach. (Partly because part of the debate over sewers concerns water color and content... ew.)

A freestanding wall with an arch in the base makes a good inflow/outflow. A floor tile with a grate (round to distinguish it from the MM/resin version) makes a good drain. A straight wall or a curved alcove with a ladder makes a good access point.

By adding a few pieces compatible with existing sets, we can gets sewers at minimal cost and increase the versatility of our dungeon GT.

And DF can still do a dedicated MM sewer set in resin.

I am hoping we get the best of both worlds like we did with the Caverns KS.

With caverns we will get the Water Cavern Pack for shallow water and for the negative space approach we will get the Chasm Pack that can be used for deep deep water.

Below IMO

If the the 3rd KS is just Sewers in Dwarvenite it will have to have a lot of options to bring in the Fantasy, Modern and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle RPG crowds.

Or as I now hope the 3rd KS will be Sewers/MBS, it will need to have sewer options that work well with MBS. I am hoping for add-on packs like a into cavern transition pack and a out of dungeon transition pack to bring all the sets together on one table.

I do not know the true sales numbers of DF but many have called MBS the 3rd big line, so it only makes sense in my mind that DF would want to bring in new customers by bring MBS into Dwarvenite and bring Dwarvenite MBS to the gaming world.

I also think that after making Caverns in Dwarvenite that appear to have surpassed the fantastic resin line in many ways, Stefan will want to continue to push himself and the possibilities of Dwarvenite. So it makes sense for a new line like Sewers to be the 3rd KS.

In the end Stefan and Jeff will do what they feel is best for DF.

I just feel a MBS/Sewers KS has the pedigree of a classic line and the excitement of something new to bring in more pledgers for the 3rd KS and more customers to the website in the future.

@kodiakbear.

I'm not sure. I guess any pattern that would look ancient while helping establishing a grid is fine by me.

1) I have big use for a City set, including scenery and sewers. I have an upcoming 5th Ed game in the planning stage that's heavy City/Intrigue. In fact, the first combat encounter happens in a sewer. Super useful set to have for any city adventure.

2) City/Wall sets would also be useful for siege encounters.

3) Catacombs would be very much welcome.

4) Something I'd really like to see are pieces dedicated to truly adding floors to existing sets. Anything city based would be nice to have multiple floors / roofs. I've been planning my own way to do this, but I'm sure Stefan could do a way better job.

I've given it increasing thought, and I haven't thought of an additional "large set" theme that would get me to plunk down KS1/KS2 amounts of cash next year.

I don't need hundreds of dollars worth of Sewers.

I don't need hundreds of dollars worth of Catacombs pieces, although I'd buy a bunch of accent pieces that I could use in combination with dungeons pieces to get the sense of a Catacombs.

I don't need hundreds of dollars worth of Ruins pieces, but I'd definitely buy some to use in combination with Dungeons pieces.

jackattack's idea of a decentralized KS is interesting, but there are a bunch of unanswered questions about how such a campaign's business model would change:

1) Does the 'grow the base set' mechanic still exist within the campaign? If so, what is the 'base set' and does everyone care about that growing?

2) Can the campaign reliably fund molds for a diverse array of stuff without some commitment-to-buy at the front-end backing stage per set of molds?

etc.

I already have Ruins, Catacombs and if I wanted the MDB I would have bought them. Seems they will have to do a survey some time before the next KS if there will be one.

This would almost have to be done as "Any set that fails to sell 1,500 units will not be produced" If they did each set as a pledge level then we could keep track of the units (138 of 1500 remaining). That obviously wouldn't work because we would have to have a separate KS account for each add on, but something like that might.

That would generate a lot of excitement as folks tried to bring in backers to make sure their beloved "nest with dragon eggs" add on got to the magic threshhold
