I have to admit, I'm disappointed.

I really wish these pieces were just the stone part, and no water. Then you could have a colored surface underneath to represent water, lava, chasm, etc. These pieces can't do that. Either I paint them all like water and can only use them as water (or say "this water is supposed to be lava," in which case the visual aid actually detracts from the experience), or paint half like water and half like lava, and have my options cut in half no matter which I want to use.

The other benefit of doing it that way is that you wouldn't need to "fill in" a lake with "blank" water tiles, which seems like it would be pretty annoying.

I guess they expect us to buy 3 water packs if we want that versatility? With the dungeon passages, and now this, I am learning that Dwarven Forge is marketed to hardcore collectors who are willing to pay a high premium to get stuff that looks perfect (when a much less expensive solution is much more versatile, with only a few aesthetic imperfections). So I guess I'm not their target audience?

The "affordable terrain for the masses" line is beginning to ring a bit false.

WOW, haha. YES, 2x2 TILE. I'm an idiot. Sorry. :(

I want a self-contained 2x2 puddle, essentially.

Me too. That would be nice--especially in a "chasm" sense as I described earlier, so it could be a pit (black underneath), a puddle/well (blue underneath), a slime hole (green underneath), a shallow grave (brown underneath), etc. :)

Thanks! Stefan's reasoning makes perfect sense to me, and I'm now positive about it!

The passages are still a problem for me, but whatever, I should save my money anyway.

I am looking forward to the water sets! I think modular terrain has spoiled me for life! A quick note, I backed both kickstarters and do not see the image on my profile. I backed it day one (both times) and have lots of the resin sets before dwarvenite. I LOVE this stuff. Just wanted to say keep up the good work.

cronickain, if you want your backer badge from KS1 to show up, go into "My Profile" and then "Edit Your Details". In that section is a place for you to enter your kickstarter email. If the email in that field matches one from their backer list (it doesn't matter if that's also your email or not, only this field matters for the badge) then you'll show your "I'm a Backer" badge.

Looking at the Water Cavern Pack prototype gallery, I am pleased about how many set-up options can be achieved with so few unique pieces. And how good they look "just" painted. And how low DF managed to keep the pricing.

I'm glad Stefan decided to go ahead with this add-on. A lot of people should be very happy to increase their pledges for water pieces. The "shoreline" approach turned out great.
