I recall a number of requests for spider webs as well. There were actually a lot of requests for what I would consider "niche" pieces, lacking in general utility. I can't fault anyone for dreaming big and hoping for their desires to be fulfilled, but I was concerned about something like this.

Dandare beat me to the joke, but i too worry that we'll be stuck on the web until wed at best and maybe longer... - IT is a lot of fun, but not that inspiring.

I know from a business standpoint it makes sense to put higher thresholds on goals that give away something and lower thresholds on goals that let you purchase something (as they obviously pay for themselves...) but from a boosting the pledge standpoint flipping it around makes more sense

50K - Free 2" stair
50K - Free 2" round stair
100K - Add on stair pack

when you announce the add on many folks will log in immediately and boost their pledge by one or two add ons so there is an immediate $$$ bump that makes the 100K goal more quickly attainable

more goals with smaller rewards are also possible - in the last KS (and i apologize because if you are like me you are tired of these comparisons...) we got more walls twice and more floors twice - just nice to hit a goal and move on - i don't know about all of you, but i'd rather get a free floor at 50K and then later another free floor at 50K than to have a goal of 2 free floors at 100K - i know it is the same, but it is a nice psychological trick

Biggest problem here is that the set was always intended to have 11 pieces so they front loaded a bunch of incredible stretch goals - I understand this but it left us all spoiled and feeling entitled - i still believe that some of the best is yet to come

all in all i am very happy, i am just really excited to see the serpent gate, some of the elevation pieces and lots of the other stuff we have see teased in photos - IMHO the Serpent Gate was worthy of the 1,000,000 dollar mark

... I remember that I felt the same way I do today over the 'Barrels' in the last KS. Nice to have, but nothing special ...
And yet there's a big difference between the two. The spider web is the 11th SG this time at $1000K, is achieved with a $100K jump, and comes after 15 pieces have been added to the base set. The barrels of the previous KS were the 15th SG at $900K, achieved with a $75K jump, coming after 28 pieces being added to the base set, AND were unlocked with the Floor Pack.

All in all, enticement for reaching that level of support felt like an achievement. There was a reason for folks to want to up their pledge. The spider webs SG just don't command that sort of excitement.

for the next few goals, can we cut the amounts to the next goal down a little ($75k?) and give us more pieces of molds already paid for? That's what I want too--more of the basic pieces: the original floor, wall, corner, and passage. Having too many specific pieces just means the set is less useful overall.

Even the walls with pools (wall B and corner B) are too specific for me. Either I only use them when I want there to be a pool (which is like never), or I have to remind the players that there isn't 'really' a pool there (so the terrain actually works against the game rather than enhancing it).

However, I'm guessing the point of the Kickstarter is for them to afford new molds and such, so I don't mind the new pieces too much.

BTW 'Forum Only' watchers:

2 hours ago, Stafan posted on KS:

we are going to mess with the composition of the cavern passage set a tiny bit because of an idea someone here on these boards suggested....sorry, I forgot who it was! But I really liked it and so we are going to risk looking dumb so we can make it better:) I really don't care If I look dumb, I just want everything to be awesome!

now back to sclupting....

Now THAT excites me. (a) That he has picked out a good idea. (b) he is sculpting as I type & you read ;)
+ Maybe that we get a new type of cavern piece! - But am happy with just plain old 'better'.
(But IF it means that the 'Narrow Passage Pack' has a new and different corridor / junction design.. &/or different 'Dead End' Then I will have to buy at least one.. At the moment I do not have enough reason to buy what is currently on the table)

Personally I feel a lot of the little details are subtle enough that they don't demand an effect on gameplay. Unless I'm having an adventure where "these little pools are dangerous geysers!!!" I would just have my players ignore the little pools. Everything is decoration unless I describe it otherwise.

The Great Stefan has again been listening to call outs in the dark.... Ok - He has been reading the KS Comments section:

Thanks so much guys!! Yes, I think we will put together a pack of 45's....hmmm...I like the sound of that...sounds kinda macho!

If there is a pack of 45's - I will buy enough so I get at least 8 individual pieces. I love that lill pie wedge!

So vers'a tile' <<-- see what I did there ? ;)
