I'm actually a little dissapointed in the KS so far. I know Stephan said the molds were more expensive to make, but the set size difference, and the integral for addons is much lower than last year, and the set price is $10 more (ea). I have a little tracking sheet I am keeping and comparing it to last years KS.

I was hoping for more.

Ive attached the sheet.

You kind of have to keep in mind that these pieces so far have all been larger heavier pieces = More material cost... and they are also complex parts to eject from the molds so that adds to cost. I remember the same complaints during the last KS.
We have to get past the idea that because its plastic its cheaper every time a KS comes out.... how many Bones figures on average = one game tile or cavern tile... Alot.

I am sure Stefan and Crew are doing their best to keep prices down.

I must have missed something... what do you mean by 'the set size difference'?

Personally, I think these pieces look a whole lot more interesting than the dungeon ones... even though I loved those too.

Also, didn't see your attachment.

Well, don't get too discouraged - it is pretty early still, barely 24 hours in. I expect there will be some more little additions to the sets in the next 26.9 days. Stairs & ledges, stalagmites & dressing, etc seem to be on deck. Some will be addons for sure, but just like we got a taste of stairs, castle walls, pillars, barrels etc in the first Kickstarter I think we'll get some extras here. Helps whet the appetite for more addon purchases.

The lull had to be expected, and lots of folks often wait until the end of a Kickstarter to pledge (guilty here, sometimes.) I'm sure the numbers will start moving again once some addons get unlocked and people increase their pledges. The current Map Maker update unlock is a bit ho-hum, and they haven't given anyone reason to toss more money at it yet.

DF, come on now and take more of my money! Wait...

If you click on the broken pic link with the red "X" in it its a spreadsheet Ive started.

I totaly get that these are more difficult to make, but my comparison is from broken out from goal to goal as well so you can see the difference.

If you factor in the higher cost to start, the lower number of pieces, and the slower rate of piece addition, it is a pretty big difference.

And Guys, we're all friends here. I'm not bashing on Stephen or Jeff, I know they have good intentions, I'm just pointing out the obvious. everyone will have to make up their minds if its worth it or not.

Watched the video yesterday (like everyone else). This shot caught my eye. After taking the add-on pack survey, thought I'd post a screen capture.

Stefan, I have a deep need for the dungeon entrance on the left... a need that will only be filled with at least 4 of these...

Anxiously awaiting to see what the color scheme might be. (Hoping it's something vibrant.)

I too have to say I am disappointed with the increased cost and lower number of pieces. No doubt the pieces have more detail then the previous KS.

I am of the opinion that Jeff knows exactly how many pieces will be shipped with each set, no matter if we end at 1M or 4M pledged. I figure they will adjust the goals accordingly. We saw it in bones 2 KS. If this is not the case, then why don't they just post the goals all at once then it will be exciting to see what we reached and missed out on.

I don't mind the price increase. We were warned it would happen and it was to afford a different type of mold that allows these pieces to look as totally awesome as they do. What I AM dissapointed about is that, on top of that, there's also a dramatic decrease in the amount of pieces per set. Its like a 30% decrease, which is a huge difference

I'm just glad I'm gonna be able to get in on the KS so I can get extra pieces to make up for the decrease in set size. Otherwise, as cool as this set is, I don't think I'd be able to afford the amount of sets I would need

Re:Any Semi-Official Updates on the Caverns KS? 6 Months, 1 Week ago
I fully understand the costs of various plastics as well as resins as I work with many... the thing is in the last KS we saw lots of little fiddly pieces like Barrels , Treasure Chests, Half Tiles, Inverse Rounded Corned Fillers, all the 1" step pieces, Treasure Piles and the Likes... They counted for at the least 12-15 pieces of the Stretch Goals..... So far we have had nothing but Full Size Pieces.
These pieces are way more complex in details and mold cost.
Also the US Dollar has dropped a crazy amount since last year so you get less for more.
All that counts a lot to me.
So Being were only 2 days in to the Goals we have opened I'm Happy, Happy, Happy!

PS.. it might have been better to cut the goals in half for the 2 piece stretch goals.... that would create more incentive to hit the next goal.....but I'm sure Jeff is having a hard enough time changing stuff on the KS.

Hang in there guys I'm having a blast watching the numbers fly by.

Re:Any Semi-Official Updates on the Caverns KS?o 6 Months, 1 Week ago
I have no personal xp, I'm just going off things like the first is video stating that if was to bring the new game tiles which would be vastly more affordable. I took it that it was because of material used. I don't really see any other difference that it could be. Either way I was expecting these to cost more and I'm fine with that because they look awesome which required more expensive molds. But thats why the goal was doubled and the price of each set is $10 higher. $10 might not seem like much, but multiply that by how many sets thay have already been pledged for and it probably equals something like $100,000 of additional revenue. I don't see why the sets would need the number of pieces cut by 30%. Add ons should have no effect on that. Were talking about a 30% decrease in base set pieces compared to base set pieces of the last set. Either way, I'm glad I can do the KS this time. The pieces are awesome, I just wasn't expecting to take such a hit on the piece count. I'm glad I can get in on the KS this time

1 question though, what makes you think the dollar is so bad compared to last year? It doesn't seem any different to me, but I dont really have much insight on it. I'm just curious why you think that is all
