TOPIC: Caverns Kickstarter - Wish List

Re:Caverns Kickstarter - Wish List 12 Months ago
My big Wish List item would be, in general terms, lots of accessories. I found the first Kickstarter didn't have enough accessories or variety. It would also be nice to be able to buy into the accessories separately. For instance, I would have bought a bunch more 'hidden' walls and doors with the bars to create dungeon cells.

I found the large doors with bars... perhaps should have been small doors with bars.

The corner pieces make perfect cells... but require small doors. So the point of a door with bars is a bit lost.

Ahhh, I guess I'll find that out when I finally get to painting my tiles. I still have a long ways to go with all that so I haven't fooled around with setups like most of you guys have... I'm enjoying the painting and experimenting plenty, though. ;-)

I just ran an adventure with four prison cells. I will post the map and adventure when i get it cleaned up and fix the things i learned running it so it is better balanced for others. I totally understand what you mean about the narrow doors, but you can put the cell doors IN FRONT of the cells and they work perfectly. Hard to explain and Map Maker won't let me do it because of the 'snap to grid' issue with doors. Here is a closeup (cropped out of a larger shot) so you can see what i mean:

Hope that helps

What's wrong with a nice, big, cozy dungeon?... why do they have to be dank, dingy and small?

@kitenerd

That will do!

Thanks for the tip on that. I just tried it myself and by putting them on the outside it works just fine, even right up against the corner pieces.

What cavern accessories are you most wishing for?

I would have to say an old, rickety wood plank bridge... which would then mean various stackable levels to create the chasm needed for the bridge. :-)

But I would like to see a lot of rock croppings, with geodes, but something a bit different than the typical cluster of crystals... mushrooms is another given... stalagmites/tites (whichever is the one on the ground)... maybe some with openings/vents (those would be great for mods, I have a mini smoke mod I'm currently conceiving)... natural pool of rock... I'd love to see river beds that we could fill with resin or water products... but that's more a cavern tile... it would be great to see rubbish heap/pile, some sort of cavern dweller nest, bones pile, mystical/ancient stone circle, altar pieces, bone hut, clay pottery, maybe furniture for cave trolls or the like, natural formation prison-type bars made of stalagmites/tites.

It would be cool to have a tapered wall piece (one left, one right) that would then allow you to butt up against it the dungeon wall, for instance, the wall with the (not so) secret door... or even that transition piece that could fit the secret wall.

I propose a pile of poop with a mushroom or two growing from it.

Also a rickety bridge would be cool. You don't need anything special to make a hole though just put black paper down and then leave a gap between the tiles.

I'm pretty sure we will be getting some sort of tiles that work as banks for flat streams and pools.

Stalagmites stand mighty on the ground.

Stalactites hang tightly to the ceiling.

And just as a general note, remember that anything that can be cast as a freestanding accessory should, perhaps, be noted as such. Sculpted correctly, things like bridges and altars can be used with any line of DF products.

I was taught that the mites go up then the tites come down.

The other KS with caverns had a "bridge of death" that had addable sections coupled by high-powered magnets. That item sold out first so obviously there is a demand for rickety rope bridges.

Couple that with lake/chasm edge pieces as an add-on pack and you'd have a winner.

Thanks a lot for this. I was in the camp that thought "why weren't the cell doors narrow?" but now I see that they can work just as well with the same set-up/design.
