Jeff mentioned in another thread that they are swamped with orders right now. That tells me that allot of customers did not get to take part in the KS at all or to the degree they wished too.

I am hoping that DF can get the word out for the Caverns KS to more corners of the gaming world so we can make it super successful. Successful for DF as a company and successful for us as gamers getting lots of stretch goals and cool add on options.

So since the wish list is a little quiet right now I figured I would bring up this question.

What inventive ideas can we do to help the Caverns Dwarvenite KS succeed in YRTFW!!! (Shadox style)

I agree that we should do whatever we can to get the word out (I tried to get Dude I Want That to put them on their website, but didn't get a reply), but are we sure this was a matter of exposure rather than consumer confidence?

This was DF's first kickstarter. Even though it met the funding goal ridiculously fast (yay DF), there may have been doubts regarding actual fulfillment, especially for anyone who has had previous disappointing experiences with kickstarters from other companies.

The sheer scope of the funding success (yay DF) may also have discouraged potential backers if they thought that a small company wouldn't be able to fulfill so many orders without making a total mess of it.

Plus, Stefan was pretty clear that he was using the KS to launch a new line of products, so it was not a one-chance-and-then-it's-gone-forever deal. Some risk-averse people (who had no previous experience with DF) might have decided to wait until (and if) GameTiles became available through normal website channels.

Finally, it has been several months since the kickstarter. Backers who pledged as much as they could afford (but not as much as they wanted) have had time to save up some more to round out their GameTile acquisitions.

However, my idea for getting the word out is this: If you have the chance to run a game at a convention or local gaming store, use your GameTiles and let people see how great they are. Nothing sells DF products like seeing them in person!

I agree with Jackattack (again)...

I had no doubt that DF would fulfill their commitment. I had absolute certainty they would not make their promised delivery date. I grew more confident the higher the pledges went. I was wrong and they surprised and impressed me.

My big doubt was - "Would i actually like this stuff?" - The resin is amazing, but the Dwarvenite was a whole new ballgame (seeing it bend under Jeff's tire made me think it was soft and flexible). Is it just cheap plastic junk? How much do i want to spend on something i have never seen, touched or gamed with? Now that i have played with the Dwarvenite, i am convinced!

I bought only painted and wish i had bought unpainted as well (buy more now or save for caverns... Will save vs INSANITY!). Hanging out on these forums has got me excited about painting and customizing and that will bump my caverns investment up as well.

I do think that running at the FLGS is the best way to get people in the loop about DF. We are a small cult, but like any cult we are all zealots! Converting innocent minions into our fold just goes with the territory. Hold out the toys, let them play and then pack them up and take them home. As they shiver and shake with withdrawal, they will find a way to get their fix ;)

I've been passing the word around with people locally and that's something anyone can do. Many I know have only heard of Kickstarter but never really looked into it. And as far as I'm concerned - I've backed 14 projects so far - the miniatures type of kickstarters are some of the best (and most successful) deals due to the high number of stretch goals they inevitably reach.

I know I'm in for the next two Kickstarters without any hesitation and even figure I need to round out this first one with another 5 sets as that's what I figure would be the optimum amount at a reasonable (yeah, who am I kidding?) budget... or at least at a budget I can convince my wife of. ;-)

"are we sure this was a matter of exposure rather than consumer confidence?"

I figure it was both but with the second KS we can get the word out about how great the product is (great suggestion about using the gametiles in public more) and how great the deal was due to DF's superb fulfillment.

Very true, holding and using the product will bring allot more people into the tent.

"Many I know have only heard of Kickstarter but never really looked into it."

This is one of the reasons I figure I would start this conversation. We know about KS's we also know how great DF's fulfillment was, but there are allot of people out there who would love Dwarvenite Caverns who need to know about it in the first place and why this KS is really worth joining when some other KSs might not be.

Hope I don't sound to much like I drank the koolaid but I am really excited about the Caverns KS.

Assuming DF e-mails not only those of us who backed the KS but also those who are currently rabidly raiding their stores now I can see the next KS doing very well with many full-filled stretch goals (provided DF does not make the stretch goals farther apart).

While I eagerly look forward to a cavern or sewer or anything they might chose to do, I certainly hope it isn't for a while. Having backed DF, PLUS Reaper Miniatures, PLUS Privateer Press recently plus the holidays coming up...well, my wallet needs a few healing spells cast on it (or maybe even a Raise Dead).

I am hoping it does not get delayed. I have been not taking part in a few KSs so I would be able to invest more in the caverns KS. I looked at reapers 2nd KS and how much I sold off from the first and decided it made more sense to just keep my money for now and buy only what I really want when it comes to retail.

But with DF Caverns it should make sense to buy big from the KS.

February would be good for me but March might be better for DF due to tax returns for some customers, If they can fulfill caverns by the end of September they can increase web sales for Xmas. Plus if they wait to long other companies may do cavern KSs that could nibble away some customers.
