An exclusive add-on sculpted and painted to look (vaguely?) like the mouth, esophagus, and belly of some horrible underground behemoth, with lots of red and purple in the paint job, and an acid pool for the center of the main chamber.

a Budong?!?!??!?

Best Idea EVER!!!!!

While this may be cost prohbitive for a limited edition add on - it would be REALLY awesome

The limited edition one could be painted all gruesome and realistic but the unpainted one could be painted to look like a fossil and give a whole different creepy feel to a cavern...

A few things I'd like to see (forgive me if some repeat previous suggestions, but 15 pages is a lot to look through):
- "river ending" tile where the water flows down into a hole
- tile of small stalagmites like a bed of spikes
- rocky debris tile (difficult terrain)
- "cave in" tile that can block a door/passageway

I'm sure I'll have more ideas later. I have to say, I can't wait for this Kickstarter project to get rolling. The cavern sets are my favorite and I'm looking forward to getting 3 or 4 sets.

Elevation changes.

By which I mean pieces that raise the floor level here and there. I do NOT mean rough or slanted floors, nor do I mean floor tiles in which any of the four squares aren't the same height as the others on the same tile.

The best way to picture these is as 2"x2"x1" pedestals, sculpted for caverns. They might be sculpted to look like a simple variance in the cavern floor, or as another type of stone coming up through the floor.

I'd like to see this at the same height as a standard column.

If it helps, the top surface might be 2"x2", while the base could be 3"x3" or even 4"x4", allowing an angle or slope from the floor to the higher surface.

Note that a 3"x3" base will either take up half-squares all around, or it will put the four squares on top off kilter to the rest of the floor squares around it.

Note that the 4"x4" (or 2"x2") base could include an extra 7/16" height so that it could stand in place of standard floor tiles, rather than on top of them. A 4"x4" base could also accommodate a 3"x3" top surface, with the top being off kilter to the rest of the floor squares around it. Finally, a 4"x4" base would be fully compatible with MasterMaze resin Caverns.

These pieces would create cover and concealment in caverns, and could stand alone in lakes or abysses as islands.

My main reservation is the size of a piece like this. It would use as much Dwarvenite as a dozen standard pillars. It would almost certainly require a mold all to itself. And would the expanded footprint be prone to warping (like the 4"x6" floor piece), or would the extra mass make up for it?

Normally i am behind you 100% jackattack, but this seems overly complicated.

Why not just a 1" pedestal like in the dungeon set but sculpted to look like a flat topped stalagmite. Floor tiles could be used over the top or if we really want to be fancy a larger round edged table rock could be balanced on top (with 4 usable terrain squares). Im thinking a lip on the bottom of the table rock that would seat it on top of the pillar. That way the pillars could be used alone with one elevated square or topped for a platform.

I think sticking to 2x2 makes the most sense and if you want to integrate with existing caverns you just use 3 floor tiles. 3x3 creates a nightmare of "i'm one half tile off" and 4x4 raises the spectre of warping issues. Clearly dwarvenite has a sweet spot at 2x2 and gets dicey the larger you go.

Didn't manage to find the magic word combination to get the image i am thinking of, but here are a few preposterously balanced rocks.

You are absolutely right about the 3"x3" base. I started off thinking much larger dimensions, and made the mistake of halving all of the dimensions.

The problem with balancing a tile on a pedestal is that a metal mini on one corner of the balanced tile might tip it over. I suppose the easiest thing to do is stack two floor tiles, but it will look like exactly that -- square blocks of stone lying on the floor.

I'll simplify the suggestion to a 4"x4" base with a 3"x3" top at standard column height, which is big enough to have a duel or small skirmish on.

But the question about as to whether the size (counting dimension and mass) will promote or prevent warping remains.

While i am saying "balancing" what i mean is "with pedestal inserted into base" - i am picturing a 1/2" depression in the base that would allow the pedestal to firmly squish into it eliminating the tipping issue

The pedestal would have to be secured at the top and the bottom to prevent tipping.

Three rocks made of dwarvenite in the same shape as these three (if there are really three rocks in this picture) would do nice as cover/boulders/rock islands/rock stacks.

I would certainly pledge for a lot of the following

1. Cavernous chasms sets in dwarvanite (Would purchase at least 8) (I want to paint some to match my ice caverns and hellscape sets)
2.Cavern river and lakes sets (would purchase at least 4 of each)
3. Any other cavern sets we can get! New sculpts would be amazing to add variety to our cavern builds
4. A dream come true would be modular stackable cavern waterfall sets.
5. Crystal cave elements
6. Mushroom cave elements

Thanks for listening to my wish list!

My #1 wish is the same as it has been since I discovered DF in 1999, made in USA. Costs in China have gone up, shipping costs have gone up and I have seen a lot of resin made here and in the UK and comparable prices so I think it may be time to reconsider this.

I am really excited that the Caverns Dwarvenite Kickstarter is coming in only a few months.

There have been so many great ideas for cavern pieces listed here, it will be fantastic to see Stefan's cavern creations come to life in Dwarvenite.

Lenticular water! Animated drops for stagnant pools. Smoothly running streams. Burning lava! Bubbling slime! I have wanted to see lenticular animation used in miniatures forever and cavern pools would be soo cool.
