In standard internet fashion I will total ignore you saying "maybe (maybe)" and take that you said "we will offer unpainted caverns in limestone, ice and lava stone colors" ;)

In addition, i expect, no demand, am in fact entitled to: Green mossy sea caves and rainbow crystaline caverns!

Well, here`s an idea with lots of potential:

Dwarvenite is PVC.
PVC can be crystal clear.
Can we have a few Cavern Game Tiles pieces being mold-injected with clear PVC?
This way, we could have REAL COOL ice caverns, similar to Thod`s very own classic ice cavern:

A Fantastic thread that was cut in 2 following the "forum incident" crash

Such pieces could be easily washed with light blue followed by a white dry brushing for a cavern that is really made of ice, not just frosted stone as the current resin line.

WOW - those are some awesome ice caves... imagine those combined with the led lit from below tabletop that - searches the forum and realizes like a dunce that it was YOU who built it!!! - we see here:

www.dwarvenforge.com/forum?func=view&id=53383&catid=3#53383

Glowing crystal caves!!!! - i think you need to make a light box for Thod in exchange for having him make you some clear resin

I have been slowly pouring through old posts, but had not seen this - truly magnificent

I was only joking, now you are making me REALLY want clear cavern walls - someday perhaps when my kids grown i will have to cast some of these!

I would love some ice caverns.

If DF feels clear caverns is to big of a step for the February Caverns KS perhaps as was mentioned in another thread they could do a few test pieces.

A cavern floor hole could have a clear plug that made it look like a spring or small pool.

A water fall piece could have a clear water part.

But It would be great if they went all the way.

Ice caverns are still available in resin. I would grep them ahead if the Kickstarter and while they are at the current price.

PVC/Dwarvenite molds have been injected with a PVC containing a grey color (the so-called dungeon grey) so that pieces would come out directly as if they had already been painted grey. Injecting the same molds with a clear PVC (without any additive) should be really easy and could potentially generate a 2nd line of product: a Game Tiles Cavern Set AND a Game Tiles Ice Cavern Set.

Okay - that might be a possibility. I say might. I don't know how much more water clear PVC will cost.
Unfortunately you can sell a lot of non-clear stuff if it is less pure. There is a huge difference between laboratory grade chemicals and industrial ones.
Also additives add more as just color. They soften it and alter the physical properties of the polymerized end product. I'm not saying it can't be done. I just don't know if it can be done cheap enough and fulfill Stefan's high level of quality I demands.

Let's see and wait.

making clear Resin pieces is much more expensive because you are using more actual pure resin...I am guessing that it will be a similar situation with the PVC, if not, then great, it will be something to consider....

Isn't clear PVC more brittle? It seems like pre-painted D&D minis that are made of clear PVC break easier.

Ice Caverns can also just be a paint-job available in kickstarter. That way DF does not need to tie up their inventory with a less popular paint-scheme.

Myself, I've always vastly preferred the look of ice-caverns, but it seems like others don't feel the same. It was popular, but not nearly as popular as normal caverns.

Besides a kickstarter Ice Caverns paint-scheme, I think it would be cool if they possibly added Hellscape as an option paint scheme as well. Then after putting in the order, they are only getting x-number of sets painted that way for backers who wanted it and they don't have to tie up their inventory or take a "risk" with those paint-schemes. I really hope they consider that.

Not sure of the differance between what we call PVC here and what the PrePainted Miniature makers call clear plastic. But in the PPM world it should be less than double the cost, but it is still more expensive.

But they sounds like a great add-on!

Perhaps they would need to be made of the type that was used for the colossal red dragons fire, it was softer not brittle at all.

Honestly, if it is feasible, the clear casting could lend itself to several awesome things. Even though it is clear, a bit of quick paint work could probably turn it into an almost elemental fire looking set or an ice cavern set. Heck, a little more paint work could make it some really cool looking hellscape compatible stuff or some sort of magical crystal cavern deal.

These same things could be done by coloring the clear pvc a bit, but it seems to me like it would be more economical to cast the clear and then offer it in unpainted and one or two limited paint schemes and/or a standard paint scheme.

I'll be crossing my fingers that a clear solution is viable and affordable!

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...
