Game Tiles rocked Gen Con! 1 Year, 3 Months ago
Back from Gen Con! WooHoo!

met so many kool backers...it's like everyone that came up to our booth started with 'Hey I backed your product!"

Thanks again everyone!

Jason Young, posted a great "review" of why it's a good thing Game Tiles are really affordable and why all the Kickstarter Folks should still be happy that they got a Great deal during the Kickstarter....I am going to have to sign him up as "customer relations" His top reasons why we can all sleep happy was spot on I thought, so much so that I am going to repost it right here:

From Jason Young:

The following are a few facts that may help anyone sleep better:

1.) As mentioned, if we didn't back the KS there would be no product or at the very least not on this timeline, at these prices. So yes we paved the way. Be proud.

2.) We will get our product months before anyone else... getting a product earlier than available to anyone else nearly always comes with with a premium in any format.

3.) We got a great deal with all the stretch goals. You simply must factor the stretch goals since they are an essential part of the package.

4.) Dwarven Forge still produces the highest quality merchandise on the market. Your merchandise will arrive on time, and at a high quality.

5.) When October comes and you have these in your hand... you will be damn glad that you were a part of the KS and that you aren't waiting for months for the backorders to come through.

6.) When you are adding more pieces in the future you will be glad that the prices are lower.

7.) I wish I had my pieces for my game today... and every game I play between now and October makes the think... "I wish I had those damn pieces so I could display my muli-level dungeon awesomeness."

I want to stress that Jason is entirely correct that If we had not gotten the volume of orders we got this project would not have happened...in fact, without a Kickstarter this project would not have happened....we could have done this years ago, but I had only turned my attention to kickstarter after seeing Reapers success and thinking positively that absolutely, we can do at least half of what they can...it was a leap of faith...and you guys/gals came through for us...
Also, without such volumes we would not have been able to keep these prices as low as they are...the prices are low because of the massive order of pieces we made with the factory....when the inventory runs out the prices will never be this low again...I have no idea how long that will be...maybe a year or two, maybe less...but after it does the prices for basic game tiles will go up dramatically....so tell your friends and potential future buyers that time is still fleeting....

Thanks everyone for your pledges and thank you for all your positive reviews:) Hope you don't mind me addressing some of the Gen Con pricing issues here....I am very proud of what we have done and so...well...I just can't help myself:
I don't understand why some of you dudes don't factor in ALL those stretch goals as stuff your getting with your initial pledge amount...they certainly costed us a ton of money not just in the product itself, but also in the cost of the metal molds which, by the way, far exceeded our initial cost planning...everyone got those extra's for free, well, except the ones who ordered only 1 set...to those backers, we thank you for your support! So, lets all be happy!

From the beginning we planned to include a TON of stretch goals and planned diligently up to a possible 2 million in pledges just so we wouldn't lose our shirts....We knew it might be hard at first as the initial deal without stretch goals might not seem so fantastic, but we had faith folks would get us over the $50,000 hump....and boy did they! We kind of had to balance "what if" we didn't get much more than $50,000 with "what if" it far exceeded our wildest expectations...I was pretty confident we would get the $50,000 goal sometime on the 30 days of the campaign....maybe not on the first day though!
I think it showed just what happens when you work hard every day to make sure your customers are happy and treat every order as very important, I hope other companies take note of that. Be good to your customers and they will be good to you:)

We are still on track here for October and as Sirus said in The Warriors: "that, is a Miracle!"

The "Dwarvenite" pieces are only 12% lighter than the Resin products we make...that is on purpose. We wanted them to still feel substantial and high quality rather than cheap, light "plastic" I think that everyone who visited the Booth at Gen Con was blown away with the quality, especially when I threw them on the ground without any damage:)

Finally, our own paints are on the horizon and they are completely awesome! Another Video coming soon! I am so proud of the quality of these paints that I have named the paint line after my late father: "Pokorny Paint Colours"! He will be very proud:)

Thanks again everyone!

October here we come!

Congratulations, Stefan! And Jeff! And anyone else who helped on the business/production side of the kickstarter. You (all) deserve this success. Enjoy it.

And congratulations DF supporters, new and veteran. Not only did we support a literally fantastic product made by one of the best companies on the net, we also got a terrific deal on some really cool gaming terrain!

Count me in for a set or more of the Pokorny Paint Colours!! Perhaps a palette and brushes too, should you wish to expand the line.
October is so close, yet so far. After seeing the GenCon pics, I am happily anxious! You rock Stefan! (even if you suck at mechanical bull riding).

Stefan,
Thanks for the Kickstarter insight.

As for your naming the paint line to honor your father, I'm sure he's very proud of all your achievements to date! And I think "we", your DF followers, have also gained much from your endeavors and achievements! I for one am grateful that your naming your paint line after your dad...obviously the quality of these paints will be far superior than most and will make my minis works of art just by using them...right?

Thanks for helping us put smiles on the faces of children from 5 to 105!

Thanks for the feedback and good news! Hopefully your pre-order estimates were surpassed at GenCon.

Without ever physically meeting anyone who supported the Kickstarter, I truly believe we all share the same feelings of pride and accomplishment that came from its success. For good or ill, anyone who takes part in the Dwarven Forge Addiction can help but acquire a sense of ownership in the company and it's achievements are felt by us all :-)

Indeed it feels really awesome to have been a part of this KS that helps bring something like tabletop gaming to the front again. Not to mention these pieces won't only bring us joy but a whole new generation of children and people who can look at them and go "You know I had never really thought about D&D/Pathfinder/game of choice but seeing these makes me really want to play". So years from now kids who grew up an have their own "How did you get into gaming" story as I'm sure we all do and theirs will include "Well there were these things called Game Tiles". Congratulations and I can't wait to put my mind to work using them!

Jason perhaps could have added that Dwarven Forge also ran a quality Kick Starter that a lot of other hopefuls would do well to copy.

Everything was clearly laid out, the stretch goals were easy to follow. Pricing and postage clearly explained. You knew exactly what you were getting and what it would cost you and that made pledging an easy decision.

I already knew that Dwarven Forge produced quality products but it was simply the quality of the campaign that almost forced me to support it.

Agree with all that was said. The only suggestion I would give re: the Kickstarter is to show the stretch goals up front (or at least the next 2 or 3 that are in the queue). That way we'll all say, "I need that wall/door/add-on/etc.!!" and then throw in more money to attain the stretch goal.

Looking forward to getting them and playing at Tutu's with Stefan and the Fellowship of the Forge! :D

Stefan,

I was wondering - are the Pokorny Paint Colours a Kickstarter only thing, or will they be available on the website at some point (perhaps when the Game Tiles will also be available for purchase)?

Thanks,
-Bob

Bob, they will be available on our website afterwards....If they are popular we may even expand...so far they are only 4 colours....base grey, earth stone, olive dry brush, and Stone edge dry brush (which is like an off white creme color meant for the edges of the pieces....
