1 set of Game Tiles. Did Zaltar say BEHOLD when you gazed upon them?

I definitely heard maniacal laughing as I unpacked the box, not sure if that was Zaltar or myself.

Can't do too much inspecting and playing with them now since I am working for home today, however here's the first impressions.

1) While lighter than the resin tiles, they still have a nice weight to them, they feel solid and not like something that will get knocked around the table.

2) The painting is wonderful (as expected for a set painted by Stefan)!

3) Sizing: I'll need to play a bit more, but it looks like they are a tad larger than the existing tiles (2-3mm) in each dimension. Its small, but I think its enough that might cause some complications if you try to mix them in with existing kits (probably not as bad as woodland, since they seem consistent in themselves).

4) How they were shipped: Note this is a prototype set, so no indication of how the production shipping line will work. Inside the box was styrofoam peanuts and five "tubes" of bubble wrap. Each tube was one type of pieces -- one had all the floors stacked, one had all the walls stacked/nested, etc. Some pieces exhibited very slight binding to each other (Stefan said he was just finishing them up before GenCon; so I can understand the paint still being tacky) No sign of paint transfer/rub off, however.

I hope to get a chance to try a few layouts later tonight and will try to report back!

I was just thinking to myself yesterday: "We should start seeing some pictures pretty soon from prototypes or at least GenCon" and wah-LA!, here they come. I'm so freaking happy for you, nielsene! Now looking forward to the many more pics and descriptions :-)

Excellent - thanks for posting!

Not too worried about the 2-3mm difference you observe as I would likely not mix them side by side given the different brick VS stone look they each have.

I came home to an unexpected package from DF and wanted to share.

Slight color mismatch, but that's factory versus Stefen. Also seems to be a slight difference in the squareness/trueness of the wall/floor angle. I suspect that's due to how they were shipped -- I'm going to leave them out for a few days and see if they "relax" to the same position.

Thanks for posting the pics! Please tell us which piece is Stefan's paint job, the factory paint job, and resin line DF (if any) so we can see what to expect.

The 2x2 floor tiles are painted by Stefan, as are the plain walls pieces visible at the extreme end of both photos. All the arrow slit/windows are factory paint job.

In the lower photo you can see how the two windows/arrow slits pieces lean a little away from true square (or the two Stefan painted walls lean slightly in)

I'll pull out a Ruin's set to compare resin master maze dungeon.

Here's some photos of a ruin's wall, stefan painted GT wall, factory painted castle wall.

Hope that's useful. (I used ruins since my normal master maze dungeon pieces are at the very bottom of my stack of boxes. :) )

You can see the slight different in size of GT versus master maze, its slight and I don't plan to mix GT with Master maze too often since the wall patterns are different, but it is the type of mismatch that will magnify if you have a long wall of GT matchng up to say a long section of caverns or DoE.

Yeah....I can see that the one's I painted were a little on the chalky side...probably because I was going for a more brittle stone look...I wasn't actually trying to match anything....you can see that the pieces from the factory floor actually blend in better with the older Resin pieces than mine! that's how everyone's Game Tiles are going to look....

Yeah I wasn't expecting your's to match the other tiles, just wanted to call out the difference so people don't think that's normal in the GT line.
