I see so many requests to delay the next Kickstarter, if you do decide to do another one after all... I felt the need to throw a contrasting voice in.

Please, please, please don't make me wait until October 2014(!) to get dwarvenite Caverns in my hands! I can't wait that long, my head is spinning with evil ideas and I need caverns.

I am with you.

I want dwarvenite caverns now, not a year and a half from now.

It isn't so much that I want to wait that long for caverns. Its more that my finances compel me to wait longer to participate in a similar kickstarter. If I had the money handy now, I would totally be right there with you. In short, I want them now, I just can't afford them now.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

Is kickstarter after kickstarter really going to be the new paradigm?

I thought the point was to introduce a new material/line and raise enough capital to restock existing lines while introducing new lines in traditional develop-announce-sell fashion. As much fun as it was, the minimums for stretch goal bonuses and the add-ons made that the single most expensive DF order I have ever placed. In the future, I may have to limit my DF expenses to occasional website orders of a couple-few sets, which is more in keeping with responsible budgeting according to my finances.

I see nothing wrong with them planning a few kickstarters to bootstrap the Dwarvenite lines. The initial mold costs are high, plus then there's minimum order sizes, shipping and storage costs, not even mentioning paying Stefan, Jeff, and the sculptors their wages.

Jeff and Stefan have made an amazing commitment, IMO, to quality product and amazing customer service. They've also done a surprising job at keeping the costs down. It's still expensive, but given the supply & demand/all the restocking woes and high prices on ebay, they could obviously command higher prices. They obviously truly want to share this product with as many people as they can.

If I were them, I think I'd want a second Kickstarter to begin roughly when the first one is fulfilled -- ideally they'd be able to pre-announce the start of the campaign when the first GT ship. I suspect there will be reviews on numerous gaming websites, magazines, etc This will increase interest and create new customers. Advertising the new kickstarter should help people plan as (as many here are clamoring for), but delaying the start until reward fulfillment is done means they wouldn't have to deal with all the "why are you starting a new one when you haven't finished the old one" noise. [Its a legitimate customer viewpoint, but from a production pipeline viewpoint I understand why companies _should_ launch a new kickstarter before fulfillment ends when they are bootstrapping their line & inventory.]

Hopefully they can continue to grow the customer base, as it grows it should become easier for them to plan restocks -- everything becomes less of a gamble with increased cash flow.

I see nothing wrong with using Kickstarter to get things moving faster. If I had a choice of a Kickstarter once or twice a year and get stuff faster or wait for DF to finance future sets and manybe only see one every couple of years, I pick to deal with the costs and do more kickstarters.

I'm very excited about the idea for another Kickstarter - hopefully for Dwarvenite Caverns. BUT... I hope they wait a bit, maybe until early next year (Jan/Feb)? I dumped $700+ on this KS and I'll do it again for the next(if the deal is as good / the quality/variety of pieces are as useful). I just can't afford to blow that kind of money every 4 months on a new DF Kickstarter. While some patrons may be loaded, I am willing to bet the majority are more like myself. If the Kickstarters are too close together, DF will be missing the opportunity of the especially higher pledges from many potential backers who WANT to pledge, but haven't had time to recharge their funds yet.

my two cents.

To be honest I would like to be able to put down a deposit to reserve sets coming in the next shipment.

I wonder how many people will drop huge amounts on the second kickstarter. A lot of people (me included) went from nothing to something, and that is a lot more enticing than going from some to more.

I seriously doubt I would spend as much on a second kickstarter, though it would of course depend on how much I like it.

Well, I can only speak for myself but... If it's caverns, I'd probably be in for more than I did for dungeon tiles. I would definitely want extra sets to paint up as volcanic and ice caverns.

If it's dungeon passages, I would probably be in for slightly less since I'm pretty close to functionally covering my table already, and passages can be simulated (albeit slightly wider) with regular wall pieces.

I have 3.5 sets of caverns (2.5 regular/1ice) and only 1 set of passages.

I would go for 10 sets in another kickstarter.

Passages (or as I think of them - corridors) would prob get 5 sets but the inclusion of AB bonus items would probably push me up.

MBS would get 10.

Right now my Two areas of focus - as seen in my previously posted wish list, are water tiles (lakes and the river/walls - 2 of each) and catacombs (2 of each of those to start with.

I have been making $500 orders - that seems to be my budgetary sweet spot - with shipping and duty thats close to $700 total costs. Generally that 3 sets and 4 or 6 singles or 4 sets. Mostly focused on the DoE and Hellscape sets & singles.

I am looking at august for the next cycle of orders but that depends on availability. I will probably order 1 $500 lot at that time and hold the other until water/catacombs restocks.

My encounters/dm partner at the local store keeps trying to convince me to join him in going to gencon. I will get him to pick up 2 sets for me at the booth. He is exceptional at locating items - perhaps it is time to leverage those skills.

After replicating the central section of Vault of the Dracolich last night (first real replication effort) i essentially used up my supply of wall and floor tiles & had to use some cavern corner peices as 16 diagonals Were not sufficient.i have come to the conclusion that my accessory stock pile is truly meager. That also needs to be worked on. The KS will help somewhat but my dearth of side scenery is sad. 40k and warhammer fantasy items dont work well as their intent is to be used in an external environment.

Yet another set of items to go on the list.

For the next Kickstarter, I'd want at least as many cavern pieces as I'll have dungeon pieces. I like the idea of having extra sets to paint different themes, but I'd have done that for the dungeon bits as well if I could have afforded to double my pledge. For caverns, I can live with matching what I backed this year.

If the passages were just basic dungeon passages, I expect I'd be in for about half as many pieces. They're useful, but less necessary. However, I don't want to underestimate Stefan's ingenuity. If the passage set also includes cavern passages and/or some brilliant system that lends itself to multiple uses, maybe I'll still want as much as possible.

For me, I would bet my purchase would be about the sam as this time. While I understand I went from none to some, the next Kickstarter, I would assume, would not be the same stuff thus it would still be I lack what would be offered.

So for me, I am sorry to say I would be dropping a huge amount again. ;-)
