TOPIC: Rock Faces?
#62126
Rock Faces? 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Is it too late to consider a piece or two with a rough face?

I'm thinking of the "false alarms" from Labyrinth, but they might be less distinct (is that a face, or a rock formation that looks like a face) or they might fit in with the potential lizard face opening piece we've seen a preview of, or they might just be rough, craggy stone faces.

This doesn't have to be a wall or corner piece. This could easily be done as a natural column with the face on one side, or it might have faces on multiple sides.

In play, this piece might be a landmark in the caverns, a wise old earth elemental (thanks Lork!), a magic mouth waiting to be activated, a fire-spewing eye-beaming trap, a red herring, a primitive god-figure, decorative bits for a caveman tribe's great chamber, and so on.

this is a great idea - especially if it is subtle and perhaps "just my imagination" - too blatant and it becomes easter island

this would make a fun stretch goal or addition to the (just guessing here) terrain pack add on

Whether it's suited to this KS or not, I'd love to have one of those. Speaking of which, if a "goblin city" styled set were available in resin (assuming I had the cash), I'd be all over it.

Glad my "old block" encounter chipped off an idea for you, jackattack!

Gotta admit that for me, I'd probably approach this one by just using some modelling clay to make a custom piece. I've had some luck in the past with rolling a piece of clay on a piece of rock with its own interesting texture, then sort of bulging it out and using a sculpting tool or even a toothpick to add little markings if needed.

On Caverns, I'll probably use this when I want to place an interesting inscription somewhere in a cave, like caveman drawings or the like.

Not a bad idea, but probably something which wouldn't be used all that often. If it was very, very subtle then I would be more inclined to support it as it might not be a face (or it may).
