How many sets are needed to play Descent V1 ? 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Greetings,

I was wondering how many set were needed to create Descent V1 scenario?
I missed the first kickstarter but i'm tempted by the 2nd and maybe by some set from the first as well.

But i would like to do an estimate first.

Thanks for your insight.

Regards

I do not know what dungeon 'Descent V1' actually is and without a link to a map or image cannot say. However, as part of the previous Game Tile KickStarter we all got access to a DF designer application that lets you click and play and design whole epic sized dungeons.
I then tells you how many sets / pieces you used so you know what to buy..

www.dwarvenforge.com/mapmaker/

Currently his only shows Game Tile pieces but we will shortly be able to choose the new CAVERN pieces as well.
(Once the Pledge reaches 850k)
However - in principle, a wall is a wall, a corner a corner and there is even a cavern 'diagonal' piece already on deck as one of the any bonus pieces, so as long as you check out an equivalent is or will be available, you can go ahead right now and design your 'Descent V1' dungeon and know exactly what you need for a complete table layout.

p.s - do share a link to your design once it is done. Maybe others want to have a see and play along !
(more the merrier)

Well i tried to do the first quest for descent with the map maker but i'm not sure how to manage it with the walls as the "half squares" are not big enough for a mini to stands ...

I have 3 options for you.
1- Build it with floors only.
2- Build with walls while treating half-squares as if full tiles for game purposes (I think most DF users do that here for RPGs).
3- Build it with full square tiles while using the outside part of walls to close of your rooms.

I built examples on Mapmaker of layouts for options 2 & 3:
www.dwarvenforge.com/mapmaker/shared?mapId=57980979bb9d6b75aa7b2a97dd022d47c8af27ed

For Descent, I would use personally use option 2 although resin Sets other than Game Tiles would be more practical (Realm of the ancients, advanced builders...)

Thanks for your help.
I checked those 2 other sets, and they seems to fit perfectly, sadly they are both out of production?

WilliamB,

Before I forget, Welcome to the DF forum! Make sure to look at many of the breathtaking threads located in the "cool photos" section.

These Sets you are looking for are certainly not out of production. They are "only" out of stock. DF will receive a new shipment I believe next summer, but I don't know if all the Sets you are looking for will be in there. The lack of stock availability has constantly plagued DF for 1 1/2 year now because the business has been focused more on the new PVC/Dwarvenite Game Tiles products. Make sure to register on the web page of the product you would like to be notified by email once it is back in stock.

Enjoy Descent! It is a fun game...

Are you checking the right webpage? If I got it right, then you are from Europe.

If it is the Advanced Builder Sets or the Narrow Passages you are after - actually they are still available in Europe. I also ship to the rest of the world due at the moment until DF US has new stocks - but that is more expensive.

Yes - maybe a Room&Passage Set is a better fit as the Dwarvenite? I need to revisit your map. Unfortunately we need again a 15 short corridor set as that is missing and maybe most crucial for you.
