TOPIC: Double Doors?
#59720
Double Doors? 9 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I'm running an adventure, or module for you old folk like me, and it has many double doors. I've been using my DwarvenForge Tiles to create it and it's been great! However, one problem I noted is that there are no double doors to use? To compensate I've used two single door to make them, but its not the same. I was hoping that you can consider making such doors in the future. Unfortunately, the other Kickstatrter has ended so your focus now is on the caverns, but I still wanted to bring this issue to your attention for future consideration. Thanks! Double doors would be great!

Not necessarily. Simply two doors (preferably wooden) side by side that are both pulled open from middle handles. There would be no post between the two. The doors would simply meet to make the joint. The double doors would probably have to take up 4 boxes of space for it to fit in nicely with the tiles. The side posts may have to be a little thicker than what is currently on the doors to compensate for the missing center post. Hope this makes sense?

I recently bought 2 of these gatehouses because I wanted the portcullis.

They actually look GREAT next to the Dwarven Forge terrain.

Much to my surprise I discovered that on the back side of the portcullis are gorgeous Double Doors!

They really should advertise that since it triples the usefulness of the piece!

I know it isn't exactly what you are looking for but at this price... it's a great thing to have.

Harkening back to an idea in the Caverns Kickstarter - Wish List thread, a new freestanding wall sculpted to look like a massive door would require just one new mold. It could be used singly as a strong door, or in pairs as double doors.

Freestanding doors can also be lain flat when characters or monsters knock them down, or for use as improvised rafts.

If actual swinging door action is a must, the freestanding door can be put on a post at the corner of a standard floor piece.

Have you tried doors from Hirst Arts? Many sellers to choose from and you could easily place two 1" doors next to ech other. Thay aren't tall though so not as cool looking as the door in WA3.

Those look good TK 266. However, I'm guessing that these would have to be stuck to a wall using putty to make it appear as though there is a door there. Is there another way to use these so that they can be placed in an open space and opened allowing sight to both rooms which the door connects? The reason I ask this is they appear to have no frame which would allow them to stand alone.

Here's a couple pics of something I created recently-- a large double door piece designed to work with Dwarven Forge tiles. I call it a giant's gate, since it's big enough for large / huge sized creatures to use. It's the first in a series of dungeon entrances I'm working on that I will be producing in polymer resin. Is this the sort of thing you're looking for?

That's pretty damn baller Griffin Tamer, I would also gladly pick up one.. or four. Question - How difficult would it be for you to create one using a demon face or undead face at the top of the doors?
