I'd like to see a KS for an original environment in there somewhere.

Like wooden buildings, instead of wattle and daub / timber and plaster.

Or big smooth stone blocks, like an ancient pyramid.

Or a different cavern texture, like tumbled rock or sandstone or coral.

Something new, not just a clone or a retreatment of existing sets.

So would Stefan i'm sure ;)

As much as we all speculate and dream, i doubt very seriously that Stefan would be content to churn out KS after KS of his old ideas revisited in a different material. I am quite sure there are brilliant ideas tumbling around in Stefan's very fertile mind. I just have to be patient enough to wait for them.

In the meantime, speculating is a great way to pass the hours, days weeks, months and years. Yikes.... YEARS! With all these KS we will be waiting years to get some of these toys!!!!

I agree but I think Stefan or Jeff would need to start that thread.

Or should we just start it and force them to do it with over whelming customer demands. ;)

Actually, suggestions for new lines are a time honored tradition on the forum. Stefan and Jeff have always been supportive of new ideas and discussion.

The only rule is to be polite. These are suggestions about things we would like to see someday, not orders that DF is required to fulfill. Debate concerning any suggestion should be about its specific merits or flaws, and never derogatory to the poster. Explaining why you think something something won't work, or why you prefer something different, is much better than simply trying to shut someone down -- and trying to find a way to make something work, or suggesting an alternative, is the best response of all.

Stefan and Jeff do read the forums, and have been known to comment when they see a suggestion they like. The boards aren't just here because DF is awesome, they are also here for market research.

Wow I had forgotten it was 5 months and 4 weeks ago when I started this thread


So like then it is really a little to soon but heck Sewers are awesome and Dwarvenite is awesome.

I really want to see Stefan's sewers in Dwarvenite but I now believe that a sewer only KS would not get enough backers for the 3rd KS. IMO a sewers/medieval buildings KS would do quite well, perhaps not 1.9 or 2.1 million but at least +1 million.

I like Stefan's sewers but comment after comment says he should get rid of the lips. But that would not be a huge change.

I had hoped that the caverns KS would bring us some clear Dwarvenite water effects but it was not to be. We are getting clear spider webs perhaps that substance could be used as water inserts.Much to my surprise most backers loved the water tiles just painted with a very glossy finish so perhaps water inserts are not needed.

I feel that a 3rd KS starting in the sewers moving up to the surface medieval buildings would make a great KS. Add-ons could be transition sets for dungeons and another to caverns with more add-ons for the interior of the buildings.

With a whole new crowd on the forum I figured it would be fun to restart the From out of the sewers KS discussion.

Whenever someone talks about sewers in D&D (or related games) it seems to me they coincide with an urban game (So connected to surface buildings) or exploring recent ruins (As opposed to the ancient ruins theme, this would be toppled bricks and such but not destroyed)

Both of these themes could work well with dwarven forge, since the town pieces are a common request, and because the recent ruins aren't often done, but could put the skills of Stephan and his team to the test.

For the city, i imagine a mix of styles, since a kickstarter could get very big very quickly. You could have stone buildings, frame buildings, and even all wood buildings, all in the same set with the sewers, with 2 add on packs for each, and the main set being enough for making a single story decent sized frame style building with a sewer section. The great part is that if you are just in for the buildings, you dont HAVE to get sewers, and if you are in for the sewers you dont have to get the buildings.

For the recent ruins, stephan could explore some of the things fans have been making, like wall hangings, great hall tables/thrones, and dungeons with iron bar grates (Or even iron bar walls) I especially like this idea because a recent ruin is only a short step from an active lair. A few fallen wall pieces or ripped up flagstones can really set the tone between the aftermath of a wrecked hideout in the jungle, and a bustling hideaway for the less-than-legal.

Whatever they end up going with, the things that they make are great, and I'm sure that whatever they make will be fascinating.

I like these ideas, but i am also hoping the next KS is a little more focused. Doom to your wallet indeed! I would have liked more base sets, there were add ons i could not afford and i didn't even think about the passages once the water sets came out. There was more here than many of us could afford. Most of us set a limit and then went past it, but there is only so far you can go. If this KS had had 5 less add ons, i would have spent the same (and bought each of those five add ons the NEXT time). From DF's perspective more units of the same thing just increases margins. The trick is finding the sweet spot.

Oh ye gods please, somebody lock this thread until at least November! It will take that long to remove Zaltar's Curse Of Doom from most of our wallets.

But I do like the Dwarven Forge Cityscapes would be a great theme for a multiset Kickstarter. Start with the wattle and daub style Medieval Building Set, stretch goal to Sewer Set, stretch goal to Town Wall (battlement, elevation, gates & drawbridge pieces which coordinate with existing dungeon/arrow slit/castle walls to make proper fortifications or castles.)

If the logistics are doable, let people chose the breakdown of sets in their order. Pledge for 5, I want 3 sewers 2 MBS, no castle walls for me. Pledge for 12, gimme 4 of each etc.

You see me grab all the tiles I was pelted with and add them to my collection. :)

But in all truthfulness I wrote that before I knew how big the Caverns KS would be and how empty my funds would be right now.

I now like the April 2015 time frame for a 3rd KS.

Sewers/MBS for the 3rd KS!
