Approx weight per set? 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Hey guys. I'm a brand new to DF (and my first kickstarter) but was wondering if there was an approx weight per set? I realize the pieces are different (corner wall > floor) but it would be nice to give my in-in-laws a heads up on the size/weight that's going to be showing up on their doorstep. :) I'm currently at 10 sets with 2 add ons. I'm assuming it'll be a few boxes...

Welcome to the DF forum Sakabra!

According to my calculations (dwarvenite being 25% lighter than polystone, the current freebies included per Set at the moment and knowledge in comparison that a classical polystone Room Set weighs), a Game Tiles Set weighs about 6-7 pounds.

p.s. Make sure to have a look at many of the old threads in the "Cool photos of DF Sets"

Thanks. I figured it'd be pretty huge.
I'm now up to 10 sets + 3 sets + 4 add-ons for me and the crew. That'll be a lot of boxes and... 100 lbs?
Worth the 6hr return trip drive though, opposed to +$500 in shipping.

I think it's likely higher. The 25% lighter is a number I hear repeated a lot. I think it's less.
The 25% could have originated when I posted an early estimate and current information seem to indicate it's less.

I also noticed earlier this year a huge difference between Ice Cavern and classic Cavern of >15%. They are different as some (minor) parts in the ice cavern are cast in clear resin - but that let me contemplate how equal weights have been over 17 years.

I just tried to weight classic corners.

Old bow tie approx 12 years old - as low as 96g
Bow tie from the small Starter Set box - 106g
Current set I sell - 117g

So it might depend what you compare it with.

Edit: trying 10 corners from a new set I get 108-117g
Yes - these are hand crafted. So I guess the new sets will be much more equal.

Oh, dear. I'm going to have a very upset USPS/UPS/FEDEX/Whatever guy, then. 60-70 pounds, plus the add-ons I'm going to be adding to my pledge soon.
