Interesting points. I certainly have to bow to your experience with the product.

No you don't. If I'm wrong, say so. Politely if possible, but if you disagree with me don't ever hesitate to say why. (On rare occasions, I actually admit that I'm wrong.)

This is a great forum because people are polite, but that doesn't mean we don't disagree, and we aren't shy about saying so. And we don't really stand on "seniority".

Thanks for the encouragement, but I meant it quite literally! I've never used any of the passage sets or even thought about how they work before now. Until I get a bit of hands on or the opportunity to check out the designs a bit more I'll rely on input from yourself and others with better reference material and more background. Your experience and knowledge allows you to see things I won't since I've not explored those issues yet. Of course, if logic and my limited knowledge base does expose something worth bringing up I won't hesitate. After all, I either contribute or get corrected on a misconception. Either way is a win for me.

My players rue the day I bought "Dragon Mountain". Ever since they give every creature a bit more respect. You never know when the GM will decide that this group is crafty...

Jack Attack,

Thank you for the very descriptive illustrations...it's great to see these computer made illustrations, so much easier than to read text....so thank you to everyone (Bio-W) who is able to do that, I am unable, I'm old school still...

I think more than anything it shows that the little gaps really don't matter as we already have a lot of them in the current designs and they don't seem to bother anyone at the moment...diagonal walls will create lots of those, so why should we worry about some of them in the passage set? Concerning your "large passages" you can make those using just the regular room pieces...but your pieces do show how one could build huge rooms quickly..it's something I have contemplated...as folks seem to like the fact that the Cavern sets are so quick to build due to their 4"x 4" footprint....

Although Stefan appears to have ended the 10' wide passage design contest....here is my entry.

2 molds to make connections and a third if you want passages. All passage connections; L, T, X and it even includes deadends. They all fit in a 4"x4" space so they should not interfer with Game Tile design theory, although it is not directly compatible.

I don't know if this makes sense for the Kickstart.

Disclaimer: This is basically Stefan's design with some more cuts. My apologies if I copied something already posted that I did not see.

Duncan_and_Dragons... Yup. That works for me!

Every possible shape. Even a Dead end. Hats off to you.
I really hope there is nothing missing from this as it really looks good.

You also do not have any 'gaps' when joining to rooms etc.
(As I mentioned - I for one am NOT a fan of gaps..)

Q. Am I really the only one that does not like gaps on joins etc ?

dandare, I also so not like gaps, they lesson the esthetic beauty of a DF layout. I very much like Duncan_and_Dragons's design, assuming it allows for full connectivity throughout layouts, something I didn't test it for.

The only flaw with Duncan_and_Dragons' design is that the A piece needs to be 3" long instead of 2", to keep it in line with the 2"x2" grid pattern. (When you put a B piece at the point, their combined length needs to be 4", not 3".)

Otherwise, very interesting design.

(Although I still like one-piece end caps.)

I made the "B piece" 2" so that the largest connection was 4"x4" with an X intersection. All will fit within a 4"x4" square.

Admittedly, the other shapes leave lots of space, but that is the flaw with the full 10' wide passage. You will always have dead space and I did not want a 6"x6" X intersection.

Yes, I see it now. My mistake.

The "X" is 4"x4", but the "T" is 4"x3". You need another piece to make the "T" 4"x4" as well. I'd make it a half-length (1") passage.

Hmm, I like the simplicity of Duncan's design. I agree that increasing the length of the A piece by an inch is probably the easiest way to preserve the 2x2 grid and obviate the need for a 1" spacer.

I don't think you need a 1" spacer. Those are 'backsides' of the area. The idea is that the space is unused. It is the weakness of the old 10' passage that it is surrounded with dead spaces. The space is closer to 3/4" also.

If you want to use the space, you would want a tile that is basically a 4" base triangle with isosceles sides that cut to the center of the square. Then you would put my wall design on top. But I don't think it would be used. It would just be wasted material.
